In 1983, legendary frontman of 'Mountain' Felix Pappalardi was shot and killed by his wife. She cried in court and said it was an accident (even though the shot was meticulously placed in the back of the neck). Served *2* years and still got most of his fortune.

As a man you're a rapist until proven otherwise.

There's a girl I used to date that I wonder if she made accusations about me. I've lost a mutual friend mysteriously and I've been taken off the schedule at a job about a month after she started working there. I want to ask people if she's made accusations but I can't without looking like a rapist.

I'm just being paranoid, nvm

[+]keyboardWorrier points 9 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Obviously nobody here can tell you whether you're being overly paranoid or not without knowing the specifics, but I just wanted to extend some sympathy. That sounds awful.

It also highlights the power that women now have. Every woman has option of using a false rape allegation as a weapon.

Even if she knows her case wouldn't last 5 minutes in court, she's always got the option of spreading rumours etc, as might have happened to you.

It's frightening. Until the problem of false allegations starts being taken seriously, there's literally nothing men can do. Unless you stop associating with women altogether, it's really just down to bad luck.

[–]JackGetsIt 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Unless you stop associating with women altogether, it's really just down to bad luck.

And even then now you're the creepy guy with no female friends. I think it's actually safer to play the game and spend a lot a time with women and be in on the rumor train the best you can.

[–]JackGetsIt 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Try to find a trusting friend that's still in contact with her to do some covert snooping around. I don't think your paranoid at all. I had the exact same thing happen to me as well. Women in the modern western world are a cartel and as men we are basically stuck playing by their rules.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably just badmouthed you because you broke up with her. Or some other reason that she decided she didn't like you. women love to talk and gossip.

Hotel calls police after mistaking single father for pedophile

I don't know how you can "Mistake" a single father for a Paedophile.

What are the Common Characteristics that could lead to this mistake?

[–]Wswanson001 60 points61 points62 points 9 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Adult male with minor companion. That's all they want or need apparently.

[–]JackGetsIt 36 points37 points38 points 9 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

I think there's also just too much incentive for women to report. If they do bust a real pedophile they are a hero to other female friends and they get a huge status boost because, "look how intuitive she is!!" and if she's wrong and she just embarrassed an innocent man and child and cost the tax payer some money... "oh well, who cares, you have to stay vigilant against all these dangerous rapist and pedophile men that we have to live with!!"

There's just no downside for women not to constantly report what they consider suspicious.

[–]Archibald_Andino 7 points8 points9 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Good points. What also feeds into this is the current hysteria to stop the "human trafficking epidemic". Reminds me of the child molestation McMartin daycare center hysteria of the 80s. Law enforcement needs to justify their budgets, slacktivists and other sheeple get to pretend they're doing the right thing and father's now have to prove their innocence every time they're out with their daughters.

[–]JackGetsIt 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

McMartin daycare center hysteria of the 80s

I have a book on my shelf called 'Satanic Panic' about this incident. I have yet to read it but the whole circus is fascinating to me. When I was 13 I watched a documentary about the incident and I remember being dumbfounded that adults could be so stupid.

And your right. Too many people stand to profit from hysterical overly protective women. The media, religion, police departments, talk show hosts, publishers, the safety industry (stun guns, mace, etc.).

[–]Imnotmrabut 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I know from decades of experience in dealing with abuse (and latterly here in the UK, Safeguarding) that when it comes to reporting abuse of all kinds, if it's female perpetrator other women are unlikely to report or protect.

As time goes by my experience leads me to believe that Biological differences cause women to assume that abuse by women is not dangerous and can be ignored - that Sisterhood overrides other's right - and that males are a convenient scapegoat.

In all the most serious abuse/safeguarding cases I have seen, the vast majority of Whistleblowers have been men and they have been attacked and vilified for their pains.

Female abuse is generally Ignored or Empowered, and male action to protect is now treated with such suspicion that it's dangerous to speak up without full video/audio proof and legal support!

[–]JackGetsIt 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So isn't 'safeguarding' just a natural human trait? Or is the term safeguarding meant to imply that it's a heightened or unnatural level of preparedness?

I wonder if victims of abuse are more/less likely to safeguard statistically. Intuitively I'd say more likely but sometimes 'truth' is counter-intuitive. Maybe the type, degree, and frequency of abuse effects the statistics as well?

[–]Imnotmrabut 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So isn't 'safeguarding' just a natural human trait?

Many think that way, but from experience, the primary traits are indifference or exploitation when strangers are involved.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How exactly does one "prove" they are the parent of a child?

Facebook? Really?

[–]Mac4491 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not only that, isn't it far more likely that a victim of sexual child abuse is being abused by their parent? It's not usually someone they've run off with or been kidnapped by.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 15 points16 points17 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Stranger abductions of children is statistically an extremely rare event, taking one to a motel even more so...abductions of children by a non-custodial parent is a far more common scenario.

But for some reason, people are far more afraid of extremely rare dangers and totally dismiss common ones. Human nature I guess.

[–]Archibald_Andino 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

far more likely that a victim of sexual child abuse is being abused by their parent

Holy shit that is a great point. All this does is target the very rare cases of stranger abduction victims. Overwhelmingly, most adults who abuse children are relatives. This "prove you're her father" policy does nothing for them.

[–]Electroverted 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And what did they do before Facebook? This "rape culture" hysteria is fucking ridiculous.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I love that almost on a daily basis we see new stories of a female teacher who has had sex with a male student at the high school or lower level but still men are the ones are treated like the predators

[–]the_unseen_one 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, you see, the liberated woman teacher has lots of hot sex in a kinky romp with those 12 year old boys.

The man with his 13 year old daughter is a violent pedophile rapist though.

Just remember, vagina means they can do no wrong, penis means guilty until proven innocent, and not even then sometimes!

[–]Arilyn24 13 points14 points15 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Aw come on hotel they look so alike how can you not think they are related.

[–]Dr-A-cula 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Koalachan 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This bothers me a lot. Just the other month I brought my daughter to San Francisco for a funeral. While there I stayed in a room with my brother and let her mostly stay with the family at the family house (she shared a room with her cousins, no extra room for us). She wanted to stay with us one night and my brother didn't want it to happen because he thought people would think we were pedophiles and I told him it wouldn't happen like that. I should of known better.

Doing God's work

[–]rcc737 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is what scares me more than I care to think about. I'm a 40 something year old cracker with gray unkept hair and a pot belly. My daughter is a 13 year old (going on 25) Chinese girl. We look nothing alike. However we both like to get out of the house and do stuff. My wife (also a cracker) and son (also Chinese) are homebodies.

Even though there's a HUGE international adoption community in my area my daughter and I still get second looks and stares galore when we're out in public together. I couldn't imagine checking into a hotel with her.

[–]gayguyredditor 8 points9 points10 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What the hell? How can something like this happen in nyc of all places? Doesn't nyc keep advertising and promoting itself as this progressive, liberal place? Don't they say that they don't discriminate? Isn't this gender discrimination? They wouldn't have assumed a female was a molester if she was with that younger girl.

I was molested by a female when I was 6 years old. My privates were grabbed by a female from the neighborhood when I was a little older.

This headline really ANGERS me, and I don't think I'm going to read it now that I'm this angry. To anyone on this thread who lives in nyc, is this kind of thing common?

This is thanks to feminists who keep portraying themselves as victims and keep demonizing males.

We need a male leader to stop this kind of crap and to give a voice to males who have been molested by females.

[–]thesethwnm23 9 points10 points11 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not that it makes much difference but this happened in England.

[+]McOwns42 points 9 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't disagree with at all but the article stated that this happened while they were on a trip to England. The dad and daughter are just from nyc

[–]gayguyredditor 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Isn't england supposed to be very liberal as well compared to other places? To anyone on this thread from england, is what happened to them common?

[–]Lupin_The_Fourth 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Did they not notice she had his lat name when they checked in?

[–]Mac4491 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're not required to give the names of all guests. They booked one room for two people. All they need is the name of whoever is booking it. Nor is it likely she, being only 13 and on holiday in her own country with her father, had any official identification on her.

[–]Sketchy_Uncle 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

While I get the negative angle here and really dislike the whole "man with kids alone is bad" thing.. I would be thrilled thinking that if any of my 3 children were abducted, and someone said something to get authorities involved. Apparently in our area there have been reports of some sketchy people approaching people with their kids in parking lots and chatting them up out of the blue. Human trafficking is real and I guess I'd prefer someone be a little suspicious about it than ignoring it all together.

[–]mrmcdude 21 points22 points23 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The hotel clerk told him he couldn't stay unless he could prove he wasn't a pedo by letting him dig through his social media accounts. He's lucky he didn't get his ass kicked, because he surely deserved it. Really dude put yourself in this guy's shoes, he is a single dad travelling with his daughter, and somebody basically accuses him of taking her up to a room to fuck her. I am impressed reacted the way he did.

[–]iongantas 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's slander and extortion right there. Clerk should be in jail.

[–]Sketchy_Uncle -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Right, I think the execution was really poor.

[–]mrmcdude 10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Okay, but if we are going to start making dads prove parenthood to take their daughter with them on trips, do we need to start using id cards for kids to carry around now or what? Does dad need to carry a birth certificate with him? And why should men be presumed to be deviants at all? It isn't the execution, it's the poisonous assumption of society that any man with a kid that doesn't have female supervision is a predator.

[–]Archibald_Andino 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Human trafficking is real

People putting razor blades in Halloween candy I suppose is "real" too. It probably does happen somewhere, sometime. The paranoia regarding these razors is ridiculously overblown to the point of hysteria.

Hysteria = not good

[–]Rolten 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Abduction is incredibly rare though. A single dad travelling with his daughter isn't.

[–]the_unseen_one 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. You're just promoting and encouraging this idea of assuming all men are rapist pedophile criminals, on the miniscule chance that he MIGHT actually be a criminal.

What happened to the idea of "I'd rather let a hundred guilty men go free rather than imprison one innocent man"? Now it's just "penis means evil, so hold them all under suspicion of being child rapists until they can prove they're not". Really the only case where what you said makes sense is if there was a missing person's case or something in the area. This kind of shit is exactly why being a male who works with or takes care of children so fucking impossible.

[–]110011001100 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

However this approach would be completely defeated by using female traffickers...

[–]Electroverted 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why stop there? Maybe they can set something up where police are notified when men leave their houses, so they're ready to arrest them when they rape someone?

"I'm going outside, might rape a girl in the parking lot, here's the address."

[–]PornoAlForno -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

While I get the negative angle here and really dislike the whole "man niggers with kids white women alone is bad" thing...

Same shit different century. See it for what it really is, no need to make excuses for discrimination.

[–]chuuuch -4 points-3 points-2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In the same boat, I'm totally with you. It sucks but my son getting taken sucks alot alot worse.

[–]Electroverted 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Craig’s wife, Sarah, died from leukemia when Millie was 4.

A widower trying to raise a daughter. That fucking hotel, I hope this continues to go viral and puts that place to shame.

To put it in perspective, Facebook is barely over a decade old, which is what he had to use to identify himself. Without that, how would he have done it? And families have been traveling overseas for how many centuries? Of all those times, the probability that every so often a father travels alone with his daughter is likely. So all these decades and centuries before Facebook, did that hotel simply ask police to arrest every father traveling with their daughter?

[–]kindofageek 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My daughter just turned 4 in March. I'm a single father and her mother basically abandoned her a couple years ago so it's just me and her. Crap like this always worries me.

[–]Electroverted 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just keep your cool, because society is very eager to punish an angry man, and once they realize they're wrong, don't back down on reminded them that they should be ashamed of themselves.

This is actually really common. I work in hotel remodles, so I am behind the scene so to speak. In the break rooms and many other places on the walls are signs with illustrations saying to alert police if you suspect human trafficking of any kind. I saw one the other day and I thought it was a joke at first. It's a drawing of an older gray haired white guy with a young white boy at a hotel check in counter. It said to report anything. And the drawing below it was a black prostitute in a low cut dress. I took a picture because it seemed so weird. I guess it is actually good policy though. If it saves even just one poor child from human trafficking, it's all worth it.

[–]Electroverted 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, it profiles men. It's unlikely they do it to women because the press would call them, despite older women being just as likely to traffic young girls.

This is one of those scenarios where, if they can get away with fucking with 100 men to catch 1 bad guy, they'd do it, but they know they'd never be able to fuck with 100 women to catch 1 bad girl. We're here to tell them that they can either profile both genders or neither. This is called equality.
