You know it would cost a lot less to buy a fucking sweater.

[–]bufedad 11 points12 points13 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So... the plan is to make men uncomfortable (and it's not like they can run an office AC), so that women can be comfortable (even though they CAN run an office space heater).

Yeah... this makes sense.

Of course someone in fucking Canada is trying to turn this into a genuine political issue. Someone needs to make a hashtag FirstWorldProblems.

its harder to adjust from being too cold than being too hot

On what planet? This hasn't been true since we started wearing clothing.

Cardigans are too advanced for these geniuses.

Literally completely the opposite of the truth

I'm just going over here to wear my heat sink jacket

The bloke on the right looks alright, doesn't he?

Because that surely means the end of suit & tie for men, obviously. /sadly /s

Post menopausal women and their hot flashes want the air colder than any one

[–]Trunk-Monkey 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

if most indoor office environments follow a temperature model that is based on the physiology of a 40-year-old, 154-pound man, then why is the problem only with AC in the summer and not also with heating in the winter?

[–]pokemon_fetish 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My aunt has multiple heaters and the office temperature up super high during the winter.

In the summer I am the one shivering at my desk.

If I change the temperature even a tiny bit she notices and changes it back.

I am being oppressed by my own family.

[–]Demonspawn 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The office should prefer a little to cool over a little to warm.

It's a lot more socially acceptable to put on more clothes than it is to be naked in the office.

Right? Why the fuck is this so hard for feminists to understand? If it's too cold you can put on a sweater. If it's too hot, I can't randomly slice off the extra 80lbs of weight that is insulating my body making me warm...

[–]Fallout541 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It kind of odd. Its like feminism mixed with the old school way of thinking that men are supposed to make sacrifices for women.

[–]Yndrd1984 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its like feminism mixed with ... men are supposed to make sacrifices for women.

What do you mean, mixed? That is feminism.

[–]natrlselection 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[...]it's harder to adjust to being too cold as opposed to being too hot.

As a man that's been miserable all summer, fuck you. After a fan as loud as a jet engine blasting me in the face, the only other thing I can do to adjust being too hot will get me a meeting with HR about "workplace dress code."

[–]PotatoDonki 4 points5 points6 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What trivial fucking problems women have.

[–]redditorriot 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Modern western Feminism is literally now just out-of-proportion or completely self-invented whinefests by narcissists.

[–]OTTMGTOW 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Hmm.... Could it be that we want it colder since we basically have to be covered from the neck down in noisy office environments?

[–]Pantsyr 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oppressive patriarchy! /s

[–]Yndrd1984 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Proper business attire" is basically burkas for men - only the head and hands are exposed (because they have to work), but the top is double-layered, making them even warmer.

When these women are cold indoors in their summer dresses, how do they think the comfortable men around them feel outdoors?

AIR-CONDITIONING IS SEXIST BRAH

[–]Dabookittty 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Air conditioning is a medical necessity.

I have MS, and am heat sensitive. . Getting to warm and my brain and body no longer like to work.

My manager(female) after some coworkers(All female) said it was to cold in the office a few summers ago went out and bought everyone company zip up sweaters with our logo. Basically told everyone if they were cold to put on the sweater.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think this ad agency saw that other ad agency giving all their female members of staff a raise and have come up with this to generate publicity.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

do it. All the 50+ women will fucking riot.

[–]feedmecarrots 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think that is is an accident that it is happening in Toronto. Curious that they don't complain about winter. Could it be that women dress differently then?

[–]Yongkidd 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is this new? I remember this from last summer. There's an interview if you google air conditioning is sexist. Anyway, I wonder if maybe the dress code has anything to do with it. When I look at business wear for men, it's typically a three piece suit with a tie. In my opinion, it's not very comfortable and can be stifling to wear during the warmer season. Women on the other hand have quite a bit of selection to choose from. Sleeve or no sleeve, skirt or dress, sandals or pumps, etc. Like some of y'all have stated, easier to add layers than take it off. Also, isn't it cost ineffective to constantly change temperature in a building? I thought I read something about it but can't remember if it was true. Anybody able to provide support on this?

Regardless, unless dress codes become relaxed for men, I don't see any reason to raise the thermostat. Nobody wants to smell crotch in a close space.
