From what I can tell she hasn't said he was wrong, only took it as an attack on her and now is pursuing a grudge against her own son base don projection.

If she thinks she's going to be invited to his wedding/let near his future kids she's possibly now got another thing coming.

[–]CornyHoosier 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not sure where she was going with it other than not liking that her own son thinks she is overweight. She is clearly projecting. How is it her son's fault that she is fat. He's allowed a preference, and his preference is that he doesn't like overweight women. Hell, I've met a few guys that adore overweight women because that's their preference.

It's no more a stupid Facebook pic (they're all stupid) then the girls who post the list about "The Perfect Man does this ..."

He is just a boy. Men can stand up for themselves. If my mother tried that I'd say: "You are correct mother, I do not find you attractive and do not want to fuck you. You've been single for 30 years and there are more men than women in this tiny town. Clearly you're not attracting them."

He didn't even say it.

She has a couple more years of power over him and she will have nothing after that.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But for this tone-deaf Facebook user, the tongue-lashing can only help. Mother, of course, knows best.

Pssh. Yeah, a man/boy with an opinion about women should be publicly flogged by the Social Media whip.

A woman/girl with an opinion about men? Let's "empower her", offer an opportunity to write for Mic.com, even better put it on a t-shirt ala "Boys are stupid, throw rocks at them" that'll sell like hotcakes.

A classic "Upitty bitches pigs" argument.

[–]frankjohnfrank 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She seems unstable.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow what a horrible mom. There is nothing wrong with the meme and it's pretty true. Horrible way to "punish" your kid.

[–]socialinjusticewar 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Mom, you're embarrassing me. The word is "deluded".

[–]FFXIV_Machinist 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

i... his post isnt wrong.. and i dont know what to do with this information. for men only two things really ever matter to us for the most part and thats appearance and body weight..... i cant think of the last time i dumped a girl because shes a scrub.

[–]unpicked-username 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There may be more in the female category, but how is looking at a man for the first time going to make it obvious that he has a good paying job?

[–]FFXIV_Machinist 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

usually dress, demeanor, punctuality are all tells of a man who makes a significant income.

Even as a man these are the things i'll look at when sizing up another man:

  1. Dress
    • is his shirt tucked?
    • Are his shoes good quality and in good repair
    • Is he wearing a belt, and is it centered
    • is his facial hair well kempt
    • are his clothes unstained and wrinkle free
  2. Demeanor
    • Is he polite
    • is he confident
    • is he in control
  3. Punctuality
    • Did he arrive on time?

usually if you can run down this list with all yeses, that person makes a significant income.

[–]Ultramegasaurus 22 points23 points24 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

This bitch is psychologically abusing her son.

Also, the post he shared is spot-on actually. Men do have to tick a lot more boxes to be considered attractive.

[+]Ninja_Turnip -25 points-24 points-23 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Disagree. If you look at the man's list all of those criteria apply to women as well. Except of course ripped becomes not fat and dad material becomes mother material. The only thing extra that men have to do is pay for stuff which is becoming increasingly rare and outmoded.

[–]casusbelli1 12 points13 points14 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The only thing extra that men have to do is pay for stuff which is becoming increasingly rare and outmoded.

Yeah, no. Dating is pretty much pay to play for hetero men.

[–]Azothlike 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Lol, how can you be this deluded.

Any 5-6/10 woman can raise their hand at a bar and get six offers of dick.

That's what it means to be comparatively attractive.

[–]Ninja_Turnip 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yea. I've had sex with loads (read: one) of women at clubs because they were fit. I wouldn't have started a relationship though unless they met the criteria. Which may be why I've never been in a relationship. Am I really being naive or are you guys being pessimistic?

[–]Azothlike 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When people say Attractive, they mean Sexually Attractive.

Relationship criteria =/= Attractiveness criteria. So, that may be the disconnect.

That's why you keep your opinions to yourself. I wouldn't just run around pointing and laughing at fatties struggling with chairs, I'm past that stage of life. But it's still important to be judgemental, it's how you avoid crazies.

[–]hackableyou 14 points15 points16 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Even if the mom had a point, which she doesn't, why is she doing this online? She should have talked to him in the privacy of her own home. Now that it has been shared and written about, he will be marked. Is that the outcome she wanted for her son? A loving mother would not want her son to be marked, but just for him to change his view (if his view was wrong which it isn't).

[–]CornyHoosier 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Best point in this thread. My mother used public humiliation like a scalpel. I would say that 99% of the time I'd get "the look" and knew that there would be a talking to back at home.

This woman just fucked her son's potential and he isn't even an adult yet.

[–]hackableyou 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree. I feel sorry for him.

[–]Rasalom72 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol... It's like... let's see if I can drive my son out of my life for good. Guess mom's a fatty.

The only reply in that situation is reply... Okay mom. Unfriend and block.

[–]questionnmark 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The response reminds me about every time I used to talk with my ex about society, ideology, etc. Somehow she managed to include herself and make it about her the vast majority of the time. I think it may be how women are wired differently because they seem to have trouble separating themselves from concepts.

[–]Lethn 8 points9 points10 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a total bitch and actually, this is of course a point MRAs make regularly that is completely correct. The fact that his own mother can't see the double standards here and would actually lose her shit over her son having an opinion different from hers is ridiculous.

Unsurprisingly the kind of "You're not allowed to disagree with me in this household" emotional abuse parents use is widely accepted in a lot of societies, even supposedly Democratic ones.

[–]pazz 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like he hit a nerve with his fat ass mom.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Ah yes. Meninism, PUA, MGTOW, TFL, masculism, anti-feminism = men's rights. That never gets old.

[–]masculinistasshole 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Meninism, PUA, MGTOW, TFL, masculism, anti-feminism = men's rights.

You forgot "misogyny".

[–]matthew_lane 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love how she makes it all about her and her needs.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Like most suburban moms I know, his has the emotional maturity of a 10 year old.

[–]crystalbb6 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She's probably fat.

[–]bakedpotato486 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No doubt about it. She said it herself.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Child abuse, plain and simple. Also, she is retarded. Reading most of that, it's hard to believe it was written by an adult rather than a retarded five year old. Retarded and abusive -- should such a person be allowed to raise a child? I say "no."

[–]BeeeKaay 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The boy could have posted something saying the sky is green and the mother's response is inappropriate on every level. I bet that boy doesn't have a father cause the mother forced him out of the family. Every word of her post is abusive. He should be put into foster care, anywhere away from her.

[–]NotMyButtBand 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Seems like the mom is angry because she's overweight and thinks her son called her unattractive, or did I miss something?

[–]mochacola 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh don't like me spamming your wall? Don't post horse shit calling me unattractive.

Okay, let's strike out that 'don't be too fat'. And just let it be 'whatever you may be'. Which kinda proves the pics's point even more.

Btw, meninist is a satire mirroring feminist's whining. Getting upset over it is like taking some SNL skit as serious commentary and then getting pissed.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

looks at self then looks at messaging apps on her phone

I'm pretty sure there are quite a few guys who fit the description of an attractive man (per the picture's description) who find me attractive. The graphic is just plain wrong. To be an attractive woman, literally all you have to do is make yourself bloody available and know how to fucking own it.

Oh, this was all to say the mom is a fucking idiot.

I've seen this kind of thing about half a dozen times on my FB feed over the years.

I see this kind of thing with the genders revered ALMOST DAILY.

The response in the latter is usually upvotes and lots of "Yo go girl!", "So true, so true!" comments.

I cannot imagine a father 1) viciously and continually berating his daughter for posting such a thing, 2) getting plaudits for doing so.

[–]James32015 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm really confused... does she not realize that not all women are attractive?

[–]DavidByron2 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism = child abuse

[–]bisjac 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why cant i find any pics or quotes of what he said. Its all edited to a montage of angry mom posts

[–]Faryshta 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

sooo much psychological projection there, the entire point of the mom was that she though he called her fat

[–]DavidByron2 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because she wants to date her own son? Yeah that was a bit weird.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men shouldn't only be able to come to understand the harsh reality of being female by seeing how it affects those close to them personally. They also need to understand that women are people too, not just mothers, sisters, daughters or wives.

The self-righteousness is astounding. "Harsh reality of being female." Good god, and you've never been male so what the fuck do you know?
