Ex-cop here. Was in a similar situation. Our department has been using dash cams for years and it was all recorded on video tape. I wrote the lady a speeding ticket and the next day she came in and complained to my Captain that I sexually harassed her and demanded sex in exchange for not getting a ticket. Thing is....SHE was the one that offered sex. Fuck.that.bitch. I wrote her 3 tickets. He watched the tape, (which she didn't know about), and called me into his office. She was there. He asked her to state her complaint in front of me and had a formal complaint laying on the desk waiting to be filled out. She had the pen in her hand, ready to write. She started telling outrageous lies to try and ruin my life.

Here's the good part. After she said all that he asked if she would like to press charges. She started to say yes, but he interrupted her and said, "before you do, I want you to see something". He then rolled in the TV and played the tape, which showed her lying. My Captain then explained the criminal penalties for filing a false report and said, "go ahead and write down your complaint." Her tune suddenly changed to, "Oh, I didn't want to get anybody in trouble!!" It was worth it to hear her stuttering and backtracking. She immediately put down the pen and left red face and embarrassed. I have been accused of this sort of thing twice in my law enforcement career and have been exonerated both times by recordings. That's why I've always been pro camera for police. I got so paranoid about it that even if somebody just asked for damn directions I was recording it. Fuck this bitch for trying that evil shit.

Sadly, the news anchor says this woman isn't facing any additional charges for the false accusation (or presumably for stealthing the phone in). If there were real justice, she would be doing time on that one.

Body cams not only protect the citizens, but the officers as well. I have met several cops that agree on this.

I think anyone who falsely accuses someone of a crime should be faced with the same sentence that they were accusing the other person of it was deliberately to get in trouble through lying, whether that be sexual harassment or rape, if he was found guilty he would of lost his job and faced imprisonment and if some guys accused of rape could face life behind bars whereas the women will just be given a slap on the wrist.

This is a good example of why police need body cams to prevent bullshit like this. I don't know if I agree that they should be charged with the crime they are crying wolf over; but definitely need to be charged with slander.
