Here are my honest recommendations:

Talk to the girl. Offer her a one time payment in return for the abortion/giving the child up for adoption. Make it like $5k~$10k. Enough so she can buy some shit she wants. It will be much cheaper over the long run.
As others have mentioned. Change your identity and move to Cali or Maine or FL or someplace. I hope there is no record of your brother's fingerprints anywhere.

He could try and convince her to get an abortion by saying he will leave her, telling her she isn't ready to be a parent, showing her how hard being a single mom is, and the statistics of how children with jobless single moms turn out.

Unfortunately for him, she can make that decision with or without his approval. That in itself isn't so bad because she should have the right to decide what to do with her body. What most of us here are advocating for is that the father has the right to opt out of his parental responsibilities just as she has. But that's something to hope for in the future. For now, his only option is to accept it and deal with it. And remember one thing: the child had even less choice in the matter.

Alright so I can't actually confirm any of this, and I wouldn't know where to find good proof, but here goes. I was digging around the other day and there was some debate about this. Apparently you can sign away paternal rights before birth. Like I said, I can't offer any proof either way, and it likely varies by location. Probably worth checking in to.

The right to ask her to get or not to get one. That's about it. Which, by the way, is totally understandable. It is HER body. It's HER decision to carry the child or not. Though I do believe he should be able to sign his rights away, it is proper that he has no rights when it comes to an actual medical/surgical abortion

He's probably better off just filing for custody and hoping for the best. The worse case is paying child support for 18-21 years then, but if he tries to make it work and gets married, then she has access to at least half his total assets plus alimony if she stays with him the requisite number of years for lifetime alimony.

In this case I would say that it is not cheaper to keep her.

I dont understand why the dudes mom is supporting the girl, but whatever, it may work out in his favor. Keep up that living situation. prepare to have the baby live at the mom's home. This makes that father's family the regular and only home for the baby which sets him up in a better position to ask for full custody and have child support paid to him. The only thing I am not sure of is wether its is best to tell the girl about the plans or not. I knew one guy in a similar situation. He told the girl to be ready for a DNA test and for the court fight of her life that he would likely win and for her to be prepared to pay child support to him...She made an appointment for an abortion after that.

The abortion decision is hers alone. He has zero rights to insist on it (as it should be imho).

If she wants to proceed with the pregnancy, his options are to fight it out in court or simply pay whatever the court assigns for child support costs. Even if she doesn't pursue child support the state will likely pursue him anyway. That he "wanted an abortion" will have zero bearing on his obligations.

If he wants to gain custody it will be an uphill battle. Fathers start with zero rights/visitation and must argue upwards. Meaning a father must convince a court that taking a baby away from her mother is a good idea. Convienently the mother will be breastfeeding and unwilling to pump. Even aggressively litigating it's rare for an unmarried father to gain equal parenting time/custody before school age.

The mother holds all the cards in this situation and knows it. She isn't the first young woman with no prospects to: "ooops forgot to take my pill guess you'll have to pay my bills now."

Once a man decides to have sexual intercourse, it is up to him as to what the consequences will be. If he is using proper protection, as in a condom, and spermicidal cream, then he should have that under wraps. Otherwise, he renders himself liable to whatever consequences an unintended pregnancy would bring. The woman is, and should be, the one who gets to decide whether or not she wants to have a baby. No woman should ever be forced to have a baby or an abortion, that is not only cruel and undignified, but also violates her human rights and her right to decide what medical attention she receives.

He'll be paying for an unwanted baby for minimum 18 years. If the baby has developmental issues, much longer. There are "other" options where the sentence is less than 18 years. If he's on talking terms with her, invite her for tea. If pennyroyal tea isn't an option, there are people on craigslist who will do anything for money.
