Two houses down from my home is a rental house. The tenants are a married man and woman, and every night I can hear them fighting with each other. Well, I can hear her screaming at him.

Last night she was louder than I had ever heard her. My SO and our next door neighbour walked down the street to see what the situation was and if they could help. They reported back that the couple was inside (which is impressive, I could hear her screaming clear as day from inside my own house), but they could see them through their living room window. The man was sitting on a couch as the woman screamed at him, pointed at him, and hit him back-handed across his head as she walked by.

This has been going on for weeks, and our neighbour's wife finally had enough and decided to call the police.

Two cruisers responded within 10 minutes, and after a one minute conversation in the doorway of the shrieking banshee's house, the police officers (i saw 2 female officers and one male) returned to their vehicles and stood there laughing and chatting with each other for over half an hour.

Call me crazy, but I don't think they would have taken less than a minute to deal with the situation if it had been reported that a man was behaving that way to a woman. And they definitely wouldn't have been callous enough to stand around joking and laughing afterwards.

This is my first time really noticing something like this and it makes me so sad. I'm worried that the woman is going to escalate her terrible behaviour, but just in a more quiet way so that she doesn't get reported again.
