Flag on the play: this is a Trans issue. It only incidentally links to us, and in a largely neutral way-

We could be pissed on the presumption that trans-women wouldn't get the same ACLU-endorsement and support, and get upset (possibly justifiably)... But be seen (justly or not) as trans-phobic.

Or, we can recognize that a trans-man is, you know, worthy of ours given that he is claiming one of the few rights men are granted, making this a men's rights issue.

I vote latter. Women have problems. Men have problems. We're fighting for the equal recognition of the latter. Trans people typically end up struggling with both sets of problems. If we want to be upset about the double-standard... We can't have one ourselves. If we ever plan on supporting a trans-woman's right to be free of the double-standard we expect... We have to support this move now.

Note: if he used the bag room for 7 weeks with no complaints by his cis-male peers... Maybe they don't give a fuck, and we shouldn't either?

Honestly, though - what is there stopping anyone from using any bathroom other than a sign? Is it trespassing? It's certainly not assault. If a man uses a ladies room, he's not exposing himself, since every toilet is a stall; whereas, a men's room is a mix of urinals and stalls.

Sidenote: I have never been a fan of urinals. We are forced to stand awkwardly next to each other, like it's normal to be elbow to elbow with another urinating adult or child. I've never thought it was normal.

But of course boys won't be allowed to go into a girls locker room, that'd be "icky."

Reminds me of how at a school I was at, they were discussing making all the bathrooms gender neutral. I didn't really mind that, but of course they had to screw it up. They left all the girls bathrooms as for girls only, and made all the mens bathrooms gender neutral. Just another case of "equality as long as it doesn't inconvenience women."

Well let's compare with some similar MTF cases. This is a gender neutral set of policies sweeping the country but the fuss is almost always over "boys" showering with the girls.

The girl used the male restroom for seven weeks. Can you imagine what would happen if a male just decided to start using the female restroom? It'd be put to an end the first day.

They say that the board's policy is deeply stigmatizing and needlessly cruel.

It's high school. First, they can't cater to everyone. That's life. Needlessly cruel? Like I said, it's high school. Shit happens. If this were a male they'd tell him, Toughen the fuck up and use the male restroom. And that'd be it.
