I believe most of us have been accused of being impolite or rude when talking about men's rights, and even though some of those accusations are unjust I think it is a topic worth discussing.
One thing I think is important is to choose reasonable demands to argue for. For example, depending on the topic we are talking about it is not necessarily productive to expect people to recognise the harmful elements of feminism, specially if the person we are talking to identifies as a feminist. It would be easier to make the general public accept for example that boys are having more problems than girls on basic education and measures should be taken to help them.
Sometimes also making demands that are too large can be less efective than making more precise demands. For example, it is ok to criticise things like women from the dating site ok cupid evaluating 80% of men's appearances as below average, but to want women to apreciate men's appearances as much as we apreciate theirs is unrealistic, if even possible.
I also think we should avoid criticising priviledges women have if they don't harm men.
Going to more controversial waters I believe even doing away with gender roles is not a very reasonable demand to make, I believe it is probably ipossible too. For example there is a feminist criticism that tries to sell as opression boys being expected to play with different toys than girls. Of course boys that play with girls' toys should be as equally accepted as the other boys, and the same with girls that play with boy's toys. And If you can create better toys for kids that's great, but we'll always have to deal with a limit of how good toys can be, so expecting boys and girls to play with different toys is not necessarily opression.
And just saying I think men and women should be treated the same way can already paint you as tasteless, though arguing for equal rights is much more reasonable.
Beyond that I believe there is a limit even to how much we can criticise the empaty gap for example.
Anyways, even if we decide to just talk however we feel like in most cases, we can benefit from discussing how to deal with irrational reactions in places were we can expect those.
