Gender equality today just means as long as women are equal or better, equality has been achieved.

And it amazes me how few people see an issue with it.

When men are outperforming women at X. It's because of patriarchy discrimination etc.

When women are outperforming men in X. It's because women are inherently better at X than men.

People calling for gender quotas usually consider the a 60-40 split to be acceptable (in either direction). This is completely in line with that thinking.

To be fair to be truly equal (at least in Canada) the gender ratio should be closer to 52% female 48% male; since that is the ratio of the genders of the population of Canada. A 5% gender gap in a profession that typically attracts mostly women is really not that outrageous.
