The post in question

I read through this and got a reasonable understanding of why MRA has a lack of support. Besides the obviously untrue (being seen as woman haters), we do bitch about feminists a lot on this sub. Lately, I've seen an unnecessary amount of posts about how feminists are wrong. Bashing feminism, although useful for letting off steam, will not get us anywhere.

If we want MRA to be taken seriously, we need a reformation or a refocusing of our efforts. I won't speak for the whole organization, but for this sub at least:

  1. Hate on feminism elsewhere, don't upvote bash posts here. They only serve to make us look like complainers.
  2. Be inclusive to men's rights other than just the common complaints of straight, white and privileged males. Although I personally believe that we can support what we want and it will organically attract like-minded people, feminism includes all things female and pushes for minorities and LGBTQ, which helped it gain traction as a following and become as big as it is today (although I suppose that's also what helped it lose its intended purpose). If we actively include the rights of the under-privileged and minorities, the media would have a much harder time villianizing us.
  3. Get involved in your communities and make our presence known. We should be more than complainers, but activists. Stand up for men when you see them being taken advantage of and don't be afraid to express your opinion to women who are oblivious to the needs of men, just make sure to continue to do so in the respectful tone that we operate.

I can't stand that our culture has shifted to make men so sensitive to women's issues and forget our own. I keep seeing posts demeaning our reputation and feel the need to do something about it. Add to the discussion below! Let's make /r/mensrights more than a place to complain!

EDIT: I forget that this sub is controlled by the people who subscribe to it and they seem to be more focused on overthrowing feminism than promoting Mens Rights. There will be extremists in any organization, especially in feminism where it is all but too easy to blame men; however, we should not focus our efforts on discounting them, but instead on defending ourselves. Note how I said "If we want MRA to be taken seriously..." I had hoped that my post would garner some attention from those who actually want to promote our ideals, not start another argument about the perils of feminism existing.
