I recently reconnected with a friend from high school through Facebook and last night he invited me over to his house for dinner and drinks.

In high school this guy was an artist and a burnout, but a really cool guy. We were part of the rebellious crowd that caused enough problems to get in trouble, but we were all honors students so it wasn't like we were the "bad crowd."

I think he hooked up with girls back then just because of his artistic ability, but he wasn't a natural or anything like that.

Now we're in our mid-30s and literally haven't seen each other in almost 20 years. The guy got into a pretty good career path and dropped the art thing.

I didn't realize how good he was doing until I drive up to his house. Holy shit! I live in South Florida, so real estate is not cheap in the slightest. This guy's house had a three car garage, was on an enormous plot of land, two stories, and incredibly spacious.

At some point in the night he told me he bought it for well over $1M. Plus he owns more property elsewhere.

So this guy is making some serious bank.

Then I meet his wife. She came off cool and all, but as the night went by she became increasingly more bitchy at him. Also, I tend to bring that out of wives and girlfriends because I live an unattached life where I'm chasing my dreams, hooking up with 21 year olds, and generally having fun all the time. The wives and GFs all know their husbands and BFs envy me and always talk about how they wish they could do what I'm doing, so that obviously pisses the ladies off.

The final straw of the night was when he was talking about this relatively expensive piece of equipment he bought for his art, which he now does as a hobby. For most normal people it would be a significant purchase, but this guy is a freaking millionaire at a really young age, and the amount of money he was taking about is laughable in comparison to what he makes.

His wife has the fucking nerve to give him shit over buying this thing for himself.

I'm thinking to myself, "bitch, you don't work, this guy has given you an incredible lifestyle, you're set for the rest of you're life, and you have the fucking balls to give him shit over splurging on something he's passionate about!"

Of course, I keep my mouth shut, and cringe as he apologetically defends himself.

It just goes to show, even if you're the absolute best "provider" it'll never keep a woman happy or in check. I hate to think how much she'll walk away with when and if (who am I kidding) they get divorced.
