First of all, his mask is fucking SICK. Reminds me of Emil from Neir after he becomes disfigured during the ritual and cursed to be alone for eternity.

The social intrigue about the mask was huuuuge leverage. Letting go of that leverage was a huge mistake but it sounds like it was inevitable and I believe it was because internet. So he did the right move owning it then quickly moving on, as opposed to denying his identity when it leaked and creating that ambivalence of "is he hotter than that or no?" Among his female fans, thus ruining the fantasy.

If he was Chad like let's go to the extreme of the most pretty boy Chad with perfect hair etc, when he showed his face they would say he's a creative genius and when he put the mask back on they would think he was 10x more mysterious. After all why would such an incredibly hot guy hide his identity like that. Is he emotionally damaged? Disturbed? Some sort of artistic savant?

If he was 8/10 pretty boy Chad hot he would have become FAMOUS for this face reveal and putting the mask back on. Women would be desperately trying to track him down and that is a fact we see this time and time again.

He's not even remotely ugly. In fact he looks great. Great hair, great eyes, nice nose shape, nice mouth shape, clear skin.

I don't get why he got hate? Perhaps his fanbase is full of trolls/kids. Either way, it's horrible people were so awful. People suck.

In fairness, in his particular case he hid his identity for so long and had so many fangirls who absolutely idolized him, that no human alive could possibly live up to such high expectations. If he showed his face from the start or had a normal job, nobody would criticize his looks, he's far from ugly.
