It took me about a month and a half to accept that my marriage was over and that she wasn’t coming back. Once I did, once her absence became a concrete part of my worldview every single day has been easier than the previous one. It doesn’t matter why she choose to leave. It doesn’t matter if she has a new boyfriend or if she is happy or sad or regretful. Everytime I find myself wondering what she is doing I just remind myself that she choose to leave and it is completely irrelevant what she is doing. She choose to give up on our marriage and that actually makes my choices a bit easier. I have no choice but to accept it and move on. The decision has been made. There is nothing I can do and no matter of second guessing is going to change reality. And that is a relief. My only job is to take care of myself, something which most of us probably neglected during our marriages. I’m beginning to feel euphoric. I’m beginning to feel happy that she is no longer spending my money or taking up hours of my day with emotional nonsense. I can literally do whatever I want whenever I want to do it with no regrets. She is the one that will wonder if she made the right decision for the rest of her life. My hands are clean. Hang in their brothers it does get better but what they say about letting go is true. It’s actually easy, we make it hard. It’s ok if you aren’t ready to accept it yet. But when you feel ready it is seriously one of the best feeling in the world.
