We did a meeting with the judge. Basically he said what he would approve if brought to trial. Finalized within 90 days.

In Australia, they have a year after the divorce, or 2 years after the separation to come to a financial agreement. After that, it gets a lot harder. So by doing nothing... she gets nothing. Check on the laws where you are (and talk to your lawyer.) If she stalls for too long... it may be to your advantage.

If your lawyer hasn't been good at protecting you... it's worth looking at another lawyer.

Mediation went surprisingly smoothly for me... because I didn't have to interact with her directly, and she had to use logic, not aggressive confrontation to get what she wanted. She wanted everything... she got more than 50%, but not a lot more, and not everything.

I'm waiting on a proposal from her. TBH I thought I would have one by now. She took me to court for an emergency hearing over money. The judge basically told us to figure it out. So I expected a proposal pretty quickly because of how "desperate" she was for money but she hasn't even done what the judge said.

Honestly most assets I don't care about. Mostly I want to maintain primary custody and I'm going ask the court to allow me to move with my kids to a cheaper state so when they rule on an alimony amount its not so devastating and I can still provide for my kids.

They'll make you do mediation more than once if nothing happens. My now ex wife was like talking to a wall. Waste of time.

Mind you every case is different but the mediators job is basically to tell her in your case what a great offer it is.

Meditation is to avoid a court hearing but she does have to participate. Not answering is also a negotiation tactic.

The mediator will tell you both what a judge would say about each part of the proposal.

As long as it doesn't violate any laws, you can negotiate any settlement you want.

Mediation is agreeing to a fair split of the assets/property. It's going to be hard to negotiate if she isn't countering the offer.
