Hey guys! I was divorced five years ago and unfortunately things are going from bad to worse with my ex.

I'm not longer bending over backwards for her so "I'm "stubborn" and "causing harm to our child" in her opinion.

The main issue is vacation. We initially divided summer in two blocks, one block July and one block August. This is what she proposed initially and I agreed.

I'm from Europe but living in the US. I moved because of her and I have no other family here. I can take extended vacation in the summer to see my parents back home because my job allows me to. Last year I spent 3 weeks overseas with my 8 year old son, he had an absolute blast. He cried when we left and every week he asks when we can come back.

My ex recently (2021) got together with someone that had a different schedule than us. She lawyered up and sent me threats saying that we either change the schedule or she would take me to court.

I told her to get lost since the schedule she proposed didn't match my job's schedule. She called me every name in the book but apparently he changed his. The summer is still an issue. She wants to perfectly align her summer (and mine) to his.

Apparently his summer is divided in blocks of two weeks. That means my ex will have my son for 2 weeks of her month when he has his kids, and two weeks when he doesn't have his kids.

I told her I can't do 2 weeks because to see my parents it takes 3 days (you lose one day flight east and then I have to take another flight and a train) and 2 days to come back. Leaving me with 9 days only.

Since the flights are really expensive, my parents' health is getting worse and my son really enjoys it, I don't want to give that up.

Now she's dragging me to court to change this because "it's not on the best interest of the child not to bond with her partners kids" and "expending time with my parents doesn't take precedence over travelling with my partners kids".

Am I being unreasonable for not wanting to change the summer vacation?
