I’ve arrived at the point where I only have the final edit of the temporary order to revise before presenting her with the news. I’m praying for an amicable split and we have kids ages 8 and 11.

We are in Texas. I’m 47 she’s 53. I’m hoping to have a cohabitating agreement for the 60 days, then transition to nesting for an initial 3 months but I am going to ask her to think of what she wants to do so that she can get into a good place financially. She’s underemployed at the moment and will likely need to find gainful employment after I deliver the news.

We’ve been through all the therapy and our household is just toxic between her and the kids. She and I don’t really argue but I can’t raise my kids this way. Even our dogs are unhappy here.

With all that said, what’s the best way to sit down and deliver the paperwork for her to review? Away from the house and kids? On a weekend while I’m taking my son to his baseball tournament. During our date night tonight that she’s planned trying to save what little that’s left? Right before spring break next week while I’ll be out of town for work? My attorney asked me for her email address as though she was just going to send an email. I’m thinking… uh I still need to coparent here.. I’m hoping to get primary and have a decent case for it and don’t mind setting her up for a while until she gets on her feet but I’m just trying to figure that last bit of logistics out for how this is going to go down. It’s giving me plenty of anxiety but it needs to happen for all of our sakes.. I’d welcome any of your thoughts on the best delivery method.

I am going to ask her to wait until we are with the kids therapist to give them the news.. this is dreadful.
