60M. Wife of 35yrs divorced me a year ago. I make a lot more than her. Agreed to giving her more than half so I don’t need to pay monthly. It’s nice not having to think about her. I have a great relationship with my three adult kids and with my parents. That’s plenty of family.

Don’t take your foot off the gas, keep your guard up, etc. It’s not done until the judge signs it.

Mine walked the deal we had the day before the hearing to hand our agreement to the judge just so she could get another month of temporary support payments out of me. Had to basically sue her to compel her to sign the deal and it took another month and a half of lawyers and bullshit.

If I’m wrong, and I hope I am, congratulations. It feels good when it’s done.

Mine was in AZ. Both of us retired. I’m sure my ex- thought there would be alimony but as soon as she called it, I did some quick research. When I told her there would be no alimony, instead of saying “of course” she said “well I have to protect my interests”.

I’m sure she actually believed there would be on the basis of whatever gf’s were advising her.

Most of the time, the initial proposed divorce plans are what end up getting agreed upon, even after months of fighting and lawyers fees. I’m thankful my marriage was dissolved without lawyers and in two mediation sessions. It could have been much worse. I was just mentally exhausted and wanted it to end.
