My ex-wife is alleging that I have the potential to earn a higher income, and has taken legal action. However, the court has advised them to wait until I start earning more before pursuing the matter further. her lawyer has even made a veiled threat, saying "we are watching you" which I find concerning. Despite this, I am actively seeking ways to increase my earnings, even if it means giving my ex-wife more money.
I was informed that her ex-ex-husband was served with a subpoena to reveal higher information about his investments, including details about his real estate, savings accounts, retirement funds, car, house, checking accounts, and credit cards. I'm puzzled about why this was necessary since I believed that child support payments were only based on salaries. Additionally, I was told that he didn't owe any previous child support payments.
If my current partner also earns money and has investments, could my ex-partner use that Although my future partner isn't a parent to our children, their investments could be considered mine, which could be used to claim that I earn more than I do. Is there a way to protect my future partner from my ex-partner's greed? (We are not married yet but plan to do so soon)
