That's like 36/64 custody - 5 out of 14 days. So you only need like two more days out of the two week cycle to hit 50/50. This could be a good setup for you (actually both of you) if you can eek them out.

How much money does she gain from her current proposal over 50/50?

Like does 50/50 extinguish your child support obligation? Or you'll still have to make significant CS payments. Any alimony? Any assets? Can you get her to accept 50/50 by paying off some part of the difference for a fixed period of like a year or two? I mean don't offer it just like that but run some real numbers.

I could be cool with 60/40 if it was like what she's proposing to you. Every other weekend and one or two nights a week generally sucks and leaves you begging for more time if you want to take the kids somewhere.

I dont know of any place that CS is based on % of custody. It's based on income disparity. Even if you had custody 60/40 if you make a lot more then you would still be paying her. It's really stupid.

But is sounds like she wants that CS $$$ and give you some weird days where she gets the weekends and you get them when she wants to go out and do whatever and you can play babysitter.

A 50/50 split would be more like Her: Sun, Mon, Tue You: Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat Her: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed You: Thursday, Fri, Sat.

If i was offered what you were i would probably laugh at her. I do 50/50 and did some dealing and dont pay CS or they still at 50/50 would have nabbed me for 60% of my paycheck.

What are the specifics of the CS? Incomes, state, length of marriage.

The states have different laws about parenting time and CS.

For example in WA, the CS calculation is based on difference in incomes. Some people hate how I played it but I looked at the scenario and said, oh even though I’m the primary parent I’m paying xyz CS no matter what because I make way more. And on that basis she becomes the primary parent. And the CS is set. You can get a deviation but that is only if you have something like a hardship paying the calculated amount… which is a losing proposition when you make 3 or 4x your ex spouse.

So the whole thing was just set that I pay no matter how much parenting I did or clothes I bought or health insurance I paid for.

I made the parenting plan around my work and leisure schedule. I pay my CS which is a nanny payment because my ex has the kid one more night a week.

Lot of people will say 50/50 is the only way. I just disagree. I like having same 3 nights every week around my schedule. And if you don’t talk to your ex you can just send an email once every 2 months and you can both be flexible with the schedule.
