Keep watering them.

They’re your plants now. Treat the plants the way you would treat a pet. Nothing wrong having something in your life to come home to.

It takes time to undo your conditioning. It may not seem like it, but you've taken great strides just being able to recognize you're doing stuff like this. Keep at it.

Either give the plants away or throw them out. They aren't part of your life anymore.

I am keeping a plant alive that my ex MIL bought us as a housewarming gift and also another one with flowers on it that I bought my ex.

I'd just feel bad for the plants letting them die for some reason.

Through the early stages of a divorce (and a bit longer) you will find yourself doing some things that may not make sense. Don’t dwell on it.

I added it to my collection. Started changing out some of the pots that I didn’t care for transplanting them ended up picking a very therapeutic hobby. These plants had nothing to do with her. And neither does anything else in life. Yes, they were a part of our life at one point but, if you like the plants, keep them and enjoy them for what they are.

If they bring you too much pain, and they cause you to feel some type of way. Give them away, there are other people who won’t feel the attachment to them the way that you may or we may.

There’s some plants that I’ve given away as gifts to others. I don’t share backstory. I don’t let them know anything about the plants other than, I really like this plant and now I want to share it with somebody else. They don’t need a backstory to trigger them in any way either.

It’s gone over really well, and it’s so well received.

They are living organisms and they only require water once every week or so…why inflame her more that she is now? Save you the energy for what’s coming your way in terms of stress.

I've been keeping the plants alive too because I just don't know what else to do with them. If I let them die off then I'll have a bunch of dying plants around. I could throw the dead plants away but then I still have all of the pots.

I'm only staying in this house until the summer when my oldest graduates. When I move she will either have to take them or they will be a gift to my landlord. If he doesn't want them then the yard waste bin will take the few that I don't want.

Don't beat yourself up. You'll be fine. Keep the plants if you want, or dont. Your life is now yours and yours alone. Heal at your pace and dont worry what anyone else thinks. You got this.
