I make about $45k a year. (Not much)

“Own” a house - worth about $120k, I have about $30k in equity. Stbxw and I purchased it together about 8 years ago. Been paying everything completely by myself for 6 years - she stopped working when our daughter was born.

2 kids - boy 5 and girl 6. Total marriage length before separation: 13.5 years. State of NY.

She wanted to separate; I didn’t want that. Yada yada. It’s been 3 months now and it’s devolved quickly into divorce. She moved out of state to MD with our kids to live with her Mom. I didn’t file anything because feelings and wanting to try to work things out with her.

About $20k in credit debt (mainly ‘hers’ but $10k of that is on a ‘joint’ card)

She has a car and I have a car. Both worth less than $3k each. I struggle to pay all the bills each month as it is and she is trying to bully me into mediation but has stated she wants $900 a month in alimony , sole custody of our kids, and child support. (I’m cool with the child support… that’s about it. They’re my children)

Needless to say, that’s almost 70-80% of my net pay per month all added up. Will a judge really screw me that bad?

I have an attorney set for the child custody; I don’t want to give up joint legal custody as she has also stated her intent to leave the country at some point (with my children…)

She has a laundry list of things I know she’s going to throw at the court. Every kind of abuse - she will claim I did it. Even financial abuse because I hadn’t been sending money just for her since we separated. I’ve been sending for the children. ($2k in July from my savings, and about $800 since because I am working with a net of $600-$700 a month after bills)

I’m going to need an attorney for the divorce as well but I’m out of cash. Family will help me but for how much and how long , I have no idea. Just was hoping some kind individuals could give me an opinion. At this point; I am heavily debating just hoping I can refinance the house (not sure I could tbh) or sell it and move back in with my parents as a 32 year old man (god… please just take me🫤)
