Just turned 54. Been gone for 7 years next month. The US wasn't feeling right and I decided in 2013 I was leaving. Took a while and going back and forth, but finally left for good in 2018. I don't regret it at all.

How do you handle banking other than crypto? Is it possible to sell off everything and cash out 401k and leave? I figure as long as you pay the taxes they can only get you for skipping out on temporary alimony. Might lose social security I guess but that might be gone anyways by the time I’m retirement age.

42 with a young child, feel stuck here, I would be out in a jiffy if not for our child. Sucks having to talk to her regularly and see her once in a while, I would completely ghost her if we didn't have a child. Only way to move on.

I'm <40 and I made the same choice. I got absolutely dragged, left with a library card and the clothes on my back, career destroyed, to say nothing of the psychological and emotional fallout.

I moved to Mexico and it's been a great choice for me. My career is back on the upswing, I'm dating again and my value on the dating market here is quite nice comparatively, I got a couple horses and I go riding on the beach or in the mountains whenever I want. Basically life is better than it was before I got married.

10/10. Highly recommend.
