For years I thought the threats of "maybe we should get a divorce" were just hollow threats used to try and manipulate me in an argument, and I think that was true up to a point. But now I suspect that she's at least partially serious.

This is Los Angeles County, 20 yrs married, one 17yo kid still at home, she hasn't worked since 2022.

Recently she wanted to look at her email inbox on her phone to check if she got a particular email and handed it to me. As I was scrolling through looking for what she wanted me to check, I saw some emails with "divorce" in the subject. Later I thought back to some arguments where she brought up divorce or splitting up and it seems like every time she does that for the last say six months, she always says things like "why don't you just leave?" or "you should just move out." I never thought much of that, until I joined this sub, and read all the advice to the effect of "never move out," especially is she's demanding the separation.

I'm not usually one to read between the lines of everything, or go in for paranoid conspiracies against me (that's generally how she rolls). But the more I think about it, it seems like she's possibly getting advice, or at least reading advice to the effect of "get him to move out."

Thoughts/advice?
