In order to have 50/50 you have to live in the same geographic location and a heavy travel schedule makes that difficult. I would recommend living where your daughter is at and finding a consistent job there either by staying in the military or getting out and finding a normal job in the area. I think you need to get a lawyer and file to prevent your wife just packing up your kid and moving on you.

You have a choice here. Self or daughter. You know exactly what I mean. Option 1 is the more stable. Option 2 the more volatile.

I think option 1 would be better. Regardless of how long you serve in the military, opportunities like option 2 will be available. Ultimately, you have to do what is best for you and your daughter.

On another note, don't hesitate to seek medical treatment while serving. Even if your medical issues are minor. Getting service connection is imperative when it comes to VA disability compensation. I'm speaking from experience as a disabled veteran that retired from the military.

Retired military myself here. I’ve heard over a dozen times in my career about the buddy who 100% has a six figure job for them on the outside. They separate and guess what, the job falls though. If your plan is to get out, cool. But while on terminal definitely have a job offer letter from the company. If you don’t, just rolling the dice at this point

Sounds like your heart is telling you to take option 1 and have a great relationship with your daughter, but your brain thinks it’s smart and is telling you to take the higher paying job with option 2.

Go with your heart, man. You only have so much time before your daughter is grown and has a life of her own

When you are divorced, you can't be an involved father day-to-day when someone else controls your schedule and tells you where you live.

She's already tipped her hand. She's going to be moving. Most likely that means to another city/area where she has family for support.
