Two years ago I brought it up and she shut it down instantly. It was a total non-starter. If I wanted a divorce, I need to file.

We are in the "cheaper to keep her"/"for the kids" stage.

Post nups can be challenged.

If you are separated then just file for divorce before it gets too expensive.

Too late for prenup at this point. I've also seen where guys have had a prenup done prior to marriage and soon as divorce hits, the woman claims she was forced to sign against her will or the judge just outright over rules it or ignores it.

I am 59 and been married 4.5 years and she is 52 years old. I am presently still paying 4 remaining years of a 10 year alimony order against me from a previous marriage. She isn’t employed, although she was looking for employment. She waited for our 2022 tax money to come in and asked for half and went away telling me that she and her 15 year old daughter need time away from me. She said she wants to move into a one bedroom apartment with her and her daughter to get her shit together. She has been gone almost a week, today she called me and told me that she loves me and want to stay married but she is leaving to visit family in Houston for another week, we live in Illinois. If the shoe was on the other foot, it wouldn’t be fair to her, if I did the same for thing, just pick up and leave, take what she considered to be her half of the refund money. I never had this problem in the past because although her daughter has lived under the roof that I pay for, I was always reluctant towards claiming another man’s child. The fact that she has done this I wonder if there is any way to protect my financials? Any suggestions?
