So my wife just asked me to go stay at my mom's. I did this once a couple months ago for a week. Since then we've tried to fix things but here we are again. A little about me I'm two years sober from alcohol and more than that from weed. I'm a great father and I think a great husband.

My wife says she's just wants to see other people and we've grown apart. She agrees I'm a great father and reminds me of the good qualities I have and why she fell for me in The first place. Her only reason for divorce is she thinks we've grown apart. I think there's another guy but I don't think I really need advice with that. I'm looking for advise on actually getting the divorce and if I did the right thing on refusing to leave tonight. I told her there is not reason for me to leave, I'll go stay in the guestroom but I'm not leaving again. I'm not a violent guy, I'm not a drunk, hell I'm still able to be calm through all this. She said she is just uncomfortable with me in the house. I said I'm sorry you feel that way but I'm not leaving. I've heard the saying here " the king doesn't leave the castle" I'm pretty sure this is what I'm doing right now. Am I in the right? I told her to go file because I won't be the one to. Does it look bad for the husband to file? Like he's abandoning the family? I would still work things out if she would but I guess this is it.

Edit: I'm taking off of work next Friday to file, open up a new checking and savings account. Thanks for the advice guys. We'll see if she does it before then. If I get off early enough before then I'll try to do it.

She says she wants to do it as amicably as possible but I'm realizing that just means she wants to do it as cheaply as possible while also getting everything she wants. Before signing any papers I'll have a lawyer go over everything.
