Wait until divorce final to sell house?

She's not going to refi anything until the divorce is final. That's normal.

Exactly the same situation here. Waiting on guidance from my attorney.

My understanding is, once you come to agreeable terms across all parties, you can go ahead and separate assets.

You need to get your name of the loan. Yeah she is going to wait because your making the payments I assume.

I’m in that situation only I’m keeping the house. Both our names are on the original loan. My bank wouldn’t let me officially start the refi until they had a copy of the final decree showing who gets the house. I assume the same would apply to you but I didn’t have to deal with the support child/spouse.

Be careful. Make sure the decree is explicit in the fact that she has to refinance the house into her name if she is keeping the asset and that you get half of the current equity value. If its not explicit in the decree, she can opt to not refi the house and keep your name on it. Typically if this happens and you can't come to an agreement, your divorce would be vacated and you'd have to go through all of it a second time around which costs more time and money.

You really can't sell the house or borrow for a new house until the divorce is final. Credit is frozen until then.
