I'm not sure that DooM or Marilyn Manson are responsible for present massing shouting. But they were to blame after Columbine, Virginia tech and shit.

There has been only one mass shooting committed by a self-identified incel in the US, the 2014 Isla Vista shooting perpetrated by Elliot Rodger which led to the death of 7 people, 5 men and 2 women. Incels haven't contributed significantly to the total amount of casualities caused by mass shootings in the US in the last 10 years. I'm not American but I'm surprised by the amount of attention and blame put on them, every week there's a mass shooting in your country committed by "normal" men.

I'm from Europe. We have an incel forum in our country, its users literally call themselves "incels" and the board has even more users than the largest english-speaking incel boards. Do you know how many shootings and violent attacks did we have due to incels? 0. We empathize with incels despite not agreeing with them, we invite incels to interviews and we even let them share their thoughts with feminists and other TV personalities, and I'm not talking about former incels, I'm talking about actual incels.

We only had problems with islamic, communist and right wing terrorism yet we understand that not all muslims, commies and right-wingers are terrorists despite them being responsble for all mass shootings that happened here. Incels contribute so little to an already existing problem in the US that it surprises me how quick many American redditors are in stating that incels are violent and the reason why so many men commit shootings in America. Not to mention that unlike most political and religious terrorists Elliot Rodger was mentally ill and followed by a psychiatrist for this reason.

I don’t agree with what they say but unless they’re inciting violence or harassing someone, they should able to put out whatever content they want. The only thing that censoring them would do is make them look legitimate. If you disagree with their rhetoric, you should make content on YouTube that counter their arguments, and just call them out to a debate.

Side note:

Firearms have been available in America for hundreds of years. AR’s and other rifles have been available since the late 1960s and during the 60s, 70s, and 80s. You could have them shipped to your house, you had 15 year olds buying Ak’s at gunshows for $100 back in the day. But my point is that guns have been around for a very long time and the type of events of today weren’t happening back then. It’s also funny how people like to compare the US to European countries with strict gun laws but they don’t like to mention Switzerland. Their gun laws are less restrictive than U.S’s and they have one of the lowest crime rates in the world. A lot of people only look the gun and not the person behind the firearm, they don’t compare the gangs and criminal organizations(the mass majority of people coming violent crimes) in the U.S to the ones in Europe.

Maybe if Asian American young males were taught that the reason they were not getting liked by girls was because of their ethnicity, not because of their personality, they won't have committed suicide so much.

Media does not cause people to murder other people. However, denying people the right to speak their mind can. A lot of those mass shooters felt they were socially oppressed. I have absolutely no pity for them. Zilch. At the same time, you can’t really argue that more social oppression is going to make crazy people less nuts.

I don’t follow the same line of thinking that so many people seem to, these days, in believing that humans are mindless morons whose views are easily swayed by accidentally happening upon bad material. Or that people don’t realize murdering a bunch of humans is morally evil.

You don’t make people better people by removing opinions you find offensive. What you do when you make posts like this, though, is encourage curiosity which leads to more views and let’s these channels enjoy even greater exposure.

There are ways to fix the problem of brainwashing content. Firstly, we need education reform, badly - public education doesn’t teach intelligence, it teaches obedience. Teach people how to think critically, do proper research, and differentiate between fact and fiction, and rhetoric and logic.

Then, you need to have a database of underaged citizens capable of being referenced by algorithms to protect young people from mentally destructive media, and parents should be able to opt-out to protect their children’s privacy if they choose to do so.

These are just two of the possibly hundreds of solutions available to help us solve our problems, that don’t relate to causing even more damage to society by doing exactly the one thing that led to the behavior we hate to begin with. That is coming from a place of anger, not reason, I think.
