So you pick a study with a very small sample size (19), then proceed to misquote it in your post. Furthermore, I can only read the abstract of that study, which isn't alot. What exactly are we supposed to draw from this?

Based on the extracts of this study, sounds like men stop making as much of an effort to be romantic once they are married, reducing the amount of romantic connection and closeness the wife receives. So... this study actually (sort of*) proves what people on this sub say right. If you'd read and understood the study, you should have clicked that.

*Sort of because it is a tiny sample size.

EMERGENT THEME #2: OVER-FAMILIARITY Although highly valued, the emphasis on closeness and intimacy in marriage was also perceived to come at a sexual cost. Knowing each other as well as they did (or thought they did) fulfilled important emotional needs, but it also led to a type of stagnation in their sexual dynamics. Romance fell by the wayside, as did innovation, individuality, and self-care.

Dissipation of romance. Almost unanimously, participants longed for romance in their relationships and viewed its loss as central to their waning desire. Once they married, their husbands’ and their own stimulating courtship behaviors had ceased. Most participants felt that a return of that earlier romancing alone would make them feel sexual desire. Participant 9, a 40-year-old woman, stated: I just think we drastically lack romance . . . We don’t feel the need to make an effort. Because I think we are so comfortable in our relationship after so many years that it’s like, “Why bother?” Let’s try to make money and try to satisfy our career goals and that’s it. Let’s just live day to day. That’s just boring . . . I want the romance.

Participant 20, a 35-year-old woman, stated: Make me feel special. Make me feel loved and I’ll give you all the sex in the world because I would feel it..like playing with my hair, kissing me on the forehead, hugging me when he comes home from work. Things like that would make me . . . want to have sex with him . . . none of those things happen anymore.

Many women spoke about a desire to be made love to by their husbands and being disappointed by sexual encounters in this respect.

Participant 17, a 27-year-old woman, reported the following: Come up to me and grab me by the small of my back and look me in the eye so that I could see that love that I know and kiss me, then it would be all over with. That would be perfect . . . not just the act and it’s done. I know we’re animals but, hell, we do have opposable thumbs.

research on sexual fantasy has repeatedly shown that women’s fantasies have higher romantic emotional content than those of men (e.g., Leitenberg & Henning, 1995; Zurbriggen & Yost, 2004). Women also commonly report that relationship factors are arousing. Among these are feeling desired, feeling accepted (Brotto, Heiman, & Tolman, 2009; Graham, Sanders, Milhausen, & McBride, 2004), open communication (Byers, 2001), and intimacy (Regan & Berscheid, 1996). In one recent study of 356 Australian women (20–70 years of age), relationship factors were more important in predicting low desire than age or menopause (Hayes et al., 2008)

But, but, but... i thought women "don't know what they want" and that this is all bullshit because it's self reported or whatever the typical TRP cope usually is, and which i guess applies here now
