It’s so hard to remember not to do this even as a woman. I catch myself thinking “Well I’d be better at this” or “my friend is better at that than she is” and then I have to scold myself.

I honestly think the most "pick me" women who are pitted against each other don't have a strong female support system. I am friends with the same 6women since UNI days and we are all very different. We still love and support each other unconditionally

I agree. I met a really accomplished woman who flirts with all men to an extent it’s just awkward. Sometimes I’ve wondered if her father trained her to behave like that. She’s highly educated, but she really needs to read some feminism.

I'm usually like this but I had a backsliding episode last month. My coworker would go on and on about how guys would hit on her at least once a day. The first time, whatever, but she always had some story where guys were slipping her numbers and fawning. I normally don't compare myself to others but I did and WTF. There was nothing about her I felt she could one-up me on. I'm not saying she's deformed but we're both similar. Average women folk. I told her I never get hit on at work and she says "well you're kinda scary, you're probably threatening." Double wtf.
I finally confessed this to my SO who clued me in. She's not getting hit on, it's a big act to support her crippled self esteem. I don't think she meant to shred mine in the process of boosting hers, but it happened. I snapped the fuck out of it and went back to being my scary and threatening self. I will never understand telling stories to try to patch up your self esteem. Mine is non-existent but I just soldier through that shit.
