Hey!

Longtime lurker here (29f) who has started dating a man (33m) who seems promising. He has asked my opinion on marriage about 2 months into the relationship.

The thing is, I do believe in Prenups. I'm currently saving for a house and want to have multiple multi family units in the next decade. He comes from a wealthy family and has an inheritance, but still has 33k in student loan debt from a career change schooling from 3 years ago. Prenups do protect you from having to take on your partners debt. They protect your property, and your future children's.

Can anyone give a breakdown of a prenup that would be beneficial to women? I just realized there is such a lack of information on this. Definately no classes, no youtube videos, just bits of information you need to piece together from the internet.

I read that you should absolutely get your own lawyer and I plan to do that.

Edit: I ask because he's around high income men age 30-60 who keep telling him to get a prenup. I get the logical reasons why. Just want specifics on how to protect myself should anything happen.
