Im not sure if this stems from misogyny, if this case of ageism, or if this comes from how I raised. I swear, I'm legit the family therapist. When someone needs to rant they come to me. When someone needs a babysitter they come to me. And im honestly getting tired if it. I can barely regulate my own emotions. I don't mind people venting to me...but why is it ONLY me? I don't see anyone else going to each other for this.

The women in my family do this to me too, not just the guys. Which makes me think ageism has something to do with it. Growing up I was basically taught be quiet and listen because you're a child. It seems as though this has a followed me into adult hood because I don't really talk when people vent at me, I honestly don't talk much in general. I just listen and ask questions (usually while zoning tf out). Just like I was used to being quiet and listening as a child.

I also noticed when someone has something they're interested in they come talk my ear off about it while not really giving me space to even respond. Yet when I try to talk about my interest I just get "mhm that's nice". Again, none of the people do this to each other. They do it to me only. Back to kids, I noticed when I actually do babysit they vent at me too.

I feel like it's gotten to the point where I'm playing parent for other people's kids because they're not paying enough attention to them. It's annoying because i always feel bad. The kids need someone they can talk to and come to when they have a problem. The parents in my family provide their kids basic physical needs but not their emotional needs. Which is why when they come around me they too start ranting.

I feel like shit for feeling this way. But like I said earlier I can barely manage my own emotions. I can't handle people being needing me constantly to talk and vent at. It drains me. Anyone else feel this way?
