I met this great guy who is a HVM in all aspects but one, he doesn’t have a job and hasn’t worked since covid started. Before covid he was a manager at a bar. I guess my question is can an HVM be unemployed long term? He is endless supportive career wise and emotionally, comes up with date plans, he buys me dinner despite the fact I make 10x what he does (disability from the military, he’s a veteran and was injured in his first tour). I travel a lot for work and fly him out regularly to where I’m stationed on my airline miles and even in places he’s never been before he still comes up with dates from research. I swore off dating men but he really won me over. My issue comes from the fact I worry he is a “couch creature” because he’s unemployed, but with my career I’m only in our home town maybe 2 days a month on a good month and wouldn’t be able to fly him out so regularly if he had a job. Can a house/trophy husband (or boyfriend in the case) still be a HVM if you don’t and never plan on having kids? Most of the stuff I read on FDS seems to think he can’t be and that I’m wasting my time. I’m torn because I always pictured myself with someone similarly career driven but he checks every other box. I have a high powered/high paying career and I really have enjoyed having a partner who can accommodate me 100% of the time but I acknowledge a dude without a job is a MASSIVE red flag. Advice?
