Big deal, I got picked too. I've spent 20 years married, talking to other wives, going to mom groups. Damn near every fucking one of them is miserable. The bitching about the husbands is unreal. Women will brag about how great marriage is to single woman and publicly and then go their mom group and cry about how he won't help at all with the kids or he told her her stretch marks are disgusting or how some of them won't even shower and smell like shit. It's so common that even the women who seem to have decent husbands aren't at all surprised about it and will just nod and say that's pretty normal. Among wives it's acceptable, normal behavior. And this is from living all over the damn country and interacting with many different groups. It's not just one small town perspective, it's everywhere.

The only reason I was happy is because my now ex husband was a fucking psychopath and his mask was really, really good. When I found out what he was not only I was shocked but so was everyone I knew. I had women tell me they no longer had any hope there were decent men because they thought my husband was the only good one they knew. Nope, just an Oscar caliber psychopath. I thought I was one of the lucky ones and it turns out I'm just lucky to be alive.

Know a woman from college on Facebook that’s always posting pickme stuff about her husband. He was a closet gay, he had sex with men and everyone knew. You know what really irks me about these women? They complain nonstop amongst themselves about their shitty husbands, while lording their married status over single women like we’re pathetic losers. Sometimes quite cruelly. Then, if/when they finally decide to leave, they make some big reveal on social media about how their husband was actually a pedophile alcoholic abuser or whatever, and they were just lying to everyone the whole time they were being smug, and everyone is all Yass Queen you’re so brave and strong and admirable for leaving. Meanwhile single women who avoided all this shit in the first place by having standards and strength of character are STILL seen as pathetic losers. Outside of FDS, no one is calling me a brave strong Queen, even though resisting the all the patriarchal pressure to settle down with a bad man and tuning out all the societal messaging about how bad it is to choose to be alone can be very hard and isolating. We practically throw a parade for women who leave lousy men. (And yes, it’s hard to leave and it’s wonderful that they do). But women who make choices to avoid lousy men in the first place are still looked down upon.
