Well this might be a lot of work but the only way I actually think this could be successful is if the profiles, messages, lack of responses, and ghosting were actually monitored by someone and evaluated as HV or LV for both men and women. This will leave you with very few users but I think it’s the only way to actually get only HV users. otherwise the term HV is just a marketing tool

I think there should be an anonymous rating system after the first date. At the end of your date you log into the app, and you have to rate the man a number of stars based on preselected Categories of character traits: How respectful was your date? Was your date on time? Does your date look like his picture? Etc

And then at the bottom you indicate if you want to see him again. If you say no, your rating gets added to his overall score anonymously.

If you say yes, it would check to see if he said yes to a second date and then your score would not be added to his rating until you decide not to date anymore. Or, indicate you became a couple and then your score would reset to zero and you can start fresh.

Your ratings from other dates would be used as part of the algorithm to match you to people and to filter out creeps and catfishers. So like if a guy is cat fishing and his rating gets tanked, the admin can send a warning, and if he is repeatedly low scored he will be banned.

Something I like from hinge are the questions about drug, alcohol, nicotine, and marijuana use, as well as if they want kids or not. From Bumble, I like that you can fill out what kind of relationship you’re looking for (I.e. something casual, something serious).

Although I like these features, we don’t often get access to filter out what we don’t want because we have to pay to do so. For example, if I want someone 5’10 and up who wants kids and doesn’t do drugs or smoke weed, I’d have to pay money to filter out the men who don’t meet this criteria. I think these features should be free because they can be very important standards to some of us!

I think it would be nice to have a word min and max required for bios. Not too short not to long. Say 50 - 100 words or something like that? I think it would encourage people to put more of a conscious effort into their bios. There's the risk that a bunch of LVM would type the same word 100 times, but at least they'd be exposing themselves up front.

This is kind of what The League dating app is trying to accomplish. It's still trash.

The only way you can guarantee high value people is by in-depth, personal screening which would come with a high fee.

Maximum per day of available profiles. Something ridiculous like 5 so you really have to stop and view them, not mass swipe. Once you successfully match a person, you can't view any more profiles. You both have 24h to message. (Forced minimum 20 characters). If no message,it unmatches you both. After 24h either way you can swipe again.

Big mod team to crack down on female bot/catfish profiles and empty/gross/predatory/incorrect age (I dont know how to fix it LOL!!) male profiles. Be prepared to ban users and lose income.

A silhouette suggestion of "face shot" and "body shot" for pictures 1 + 2. Some kind of AI that detects "not a person" photos. No-one wants 14 pictures of your motorbike, Michael.

A one hour window after being unmatched where you can still report the user - eg he verbally abuses you then unmatches, or you go on a date, he assaults you and unmatches. (the chat box is locked but still visible and the report button and text is still there).

I like the bumble categories for filtering out smokers, drinkers, wants kids and so on.

A minimum distance in the radius. I dont want to be visible to men within 2 miles, because being shouted at while getting groceries wasn't cool.

Oh, I'd need an FDS agent to filter the men LOL. Honestly. A concierge, even concierge auto-bots that interjects or tags what we would be red-flagging anyway. We do have a whole list of low-effort responses that I'd just as soon not even see. LOL. Filter those guys, and I'd have to see another feature: if someone reports dangerous behaviour, notify the others who've been communicating with him!

I think the best way to make sure that the people joining are HVP is by making them have to apply to be apart of the app first, and the get approved by a a team of people who you know well enough/have trained to qualify them as HVP. Kind of like those communal living groups in college where you apply to live with them because you think they’re quality people, and they allow you to join their group/live with them because they think you’re a quality person too. Hope this helps/gives you ideas !

I agree with a post-date survey, but i think it should be one that is purely focused on safety and whether the guy "acted appropriately."

Instead of users having to jump through hoops to get other users banned from apps, people should be prompted to report inappropriate and LV behavior both after the date and after about five days of online interaction. The offenses can be categorized at different levels.

For instance, a guy who talks about his ex the entire date should get reported for a minor violation. A guy who "forgets" his credit card and leaves you with the bill should get reported for a "major" violation. A guy who pressures you to come over after the date even though you said no multiple times should be reported, and that should be considered a ban-worthy offense.

People who are reported for "minor" violations should maybe get a strike or temporary ban and "major" violations should get locked out for a longer period of time and then allowed back on with restricted privileges. If they're reported again, they get the boot for good.

I would warn against surveying people on whether or not they like the person after the first date or whether they want a second date, because I think that's super subjective and can also leave POC, differently abled, and overweight men and women open to a lot of unfair bias.

A person could be super polite and lovely and just not be everyone's taste, and i don't think that should be held against them. There are also a lot of guys that would probably be rated a 10/10 by most women after a first date who could later turn out to be abusers or narcissists.

I think women should be able to rate men so men are held accountable. There are instances where a guy has been disappointing and is worth other women should know about (ghosted, sexually aggressive) but doesn’t fit under the categories/threshold hinge (the app I am in) merits reporting.

Love the idea of a background check! How about a basic IQ test? You have to solve a series of basic math questions in a set amount of time, demonstrate an ability to use proper grammar, and a few multiple-choice questions showing that you are capable of thinking logically. Already drooling for an app that would offer this.
