This is truth. I watched a guy take longer and longer to text me back. Pretty soon it was 24 hours in between and he never responded to anything I said in my last response, nor did he try to explain himself. And he started out great. He was texting me good morning and good night. He was making plans with me and following through, paying for drinks and meals.

After the 24 hour text, I sent him "hey, I'm going to go ahead and move on. You seem too busy for a relationship". I got an immediate excuse reply back to which I replied, "yeah I'm busy too. It's not an excuse."

Then we never texted again. Good luck to him I guess.

I've had female therapists tell me "maybe he was busy." Like why are you fucking with me lady you should be on my side. If he wanted to text, he would, plain and simple. It just happens that no one ever wants to text me that much. So I have no examples to show that I know how to respond appropriately when it does happen, because it doesn't happen, and then I get blamed for being the one who has the wrong approach. The blame from people who are supposed to support me is so much more painful than the original issue of not getting a text back.

Have an ex that had a cutesy name for this shit, and swore he created...basically exactly this. Stayed with him for almost 5 years, because of other things...he really was/seemed 'different' in other areas. And jesus fuck, I loved him. Pathetically, constantly, awfully fucking loved him. Never would have tolerated any of his shit from literally anyone else. I finally left...now he's marrying a girl 17 years younger, with two kids of her own, after keeping me and my son at arms distance for out entire time together. They were engaged less than two years after I left him. He's actually changed now, from what I can tell. For a girl that has none of what he swore he wanted, and treats him like shit at every turn. I'm still pissed. 3 years later, new amazing SO, and I still see red. Fuck 'em.

My husband is military and had to go into an all day conference with some high level people; they literally made everybody leave their phones, etc, at the security desk (we weren't married at the time - I don't think we were even engaged yet). Even though it was only going to be like 6-8 hours, he still told me the night before, AND sent me a message just before he went in, so I would know that he wasn't ignoring me.

Giving a lecture? In a meditation class or retreat? (I’ve given up my phone for up to 7 days) In an area without cell service? (common where I live) Having surgery?

I agree with the premise, just clarifying that we don’t have them literally all the time.
