Just wanted to share an experience with my partner of 6 months, who constantly proves to me that “if he wanted to, he would.”

We (20s) are in a long distance relationship for six months now, he lives in my hometown. I’ve just come home for two weeks to visit him and go to my cousin’s wedding, and I arrived yesterday while he was at work so I went to my parents house until he got off.

He arrived at my parents house to pick me up when he said he would, stayed for a bit and talked to me and my parents before taking my bags outside for me and putting them in the car. In the car he was playing one of my favorite playlists and had a glass of water ready for me. He had me close my eyes and put out my hands and gave me a box of cookies from our favorite cookie place (the flavors change every week and he knew this was my last chance to get the flavors of that week that I hadn’t tried yet).

When we got back he had me wait downstairs while he took my bags up to his room, then when I came upstairs he had a bouquet of flowers and a glass of my favorite wine waiting for me, as well as a full bowl of green (he knows I like to smoke when I relax, and he did this for me even though he is currently not smoking to prepare for job interviews). He told me that today was about me doing as little as possible since I had just gotten off of a flight, and asked me if I’d like chicken or fish for dinner, as he had been marinating both options for me since the day before.

He went downstairs and made dinner for me while I chilled out alone and watched tv from bed. He brought me my dinner, which was very good for a man who doesn’t cook dinners like this too much, and we watched my favorite show which we have been going through together since he hasn’t seen it before. After dinner he moved everything I was using onto the nightstand on my side of the bed, filled up my water cup and we cuddled and watched more of the show while he scratched my back and played with my hair.

He left for work this morning before I got up and sent me a text telling me that he left his Bluetooth headphones for me in case I need them, telling me where the leftover dinner is in the fridge if I want it, and told me the name of a woman who is currently also visiting (with his roommate’s friend, her bf) who we were wondering the name of last night, lol.

I feel extremely valued and it is palpable. I wanted to share the wholesome content :)
