How long is too long for a guy to reply to a text?

Depends. Is he a surgeon doing a quadruple bypass? Is he on a cross-Atlantic flight? At a family reunion? Doing a long shift with a strict supervisor? No?? Couple hours... even if it's just to say 'Hey! Can't chat right now, but I'll message or call you later' 😊

Depends. I think context is important here. What was your last text to him? Did it warrant a response back?

If you said something like “Haha that’s funny” then I think it’s ok to let the conversation die. However if you asked him a question and he took 11 hours to respond then that’s ridiculous and unacceptable.

If he doesn’t respond in 24 hours then you should move on. I recently was talking to a guy who would take over a day to respond. Every time he was apologetic, but had a different excuse. This guy said he was busy at work, got food poisoning, got caught up with family during Thanksgiving, and “missed my text message.” Idk how you miss a text message, my iPhone said it was delivered. The point being it’s not cool for him to keep you on pins and needles. It doesn’t feel very good to have someone put you on the back burner. And we only met once before. He finally responded today after 27 hours. And I asked him a question too!!! I ended up blocking and deleting him. I don’t have time for games.

So queen, I’d say honestly it’s not looking too good for you. I’d give him 24 hours to initiate a new conversation and if not it’s time to move on.

11 hours is too much, unless he or someone close to him is in an emergency situation and he had to attend it. Even then, it's his responsibility to let you know his whereabouts and the fact that he's not going to be able to reply anytime soon and why.

To me, I set the deadline at max. 6 hours, when I've taken into account emergency situations or some place where there's hardly any network coverage (this usually happens at my workplace). But if he says that he's a busy job, I immediately drop him. If I can text back, while dealing with exhausting cases, he can do that too.

It really depends on context but my personal limit is 16 hours and only if they have a damn good excuse. They woke up, went to work and left their phone at home. They got in a car accident and were in surgery. The only excuses that are valid are where he literally physically can't use his phone because he doesn't have it or he's unconscious lmao.

A few years ago when I was in the talking stage with my ex, he used to take 16+ hours to text me back. Brushed it off, dated him for years and eventually found out he had a secret girlfriend he was cheating on.

Guy I dated a while ago I decided to give him a second chance after he went past the 16 hour mark in the first few weeks because he seemed genuinely remorseful. Turned out he was a low value porn addict.

I have like a million stories of where I've given a man a pass for this and it's always produced bad results. It's never a good reason why a man isn't replying to you for that long.

If man wants you, he will keep you close by and keep your attention so you won't drift off to someone else who might want you too.

For myself, there are plenty of times it’s 12+ hours sometimes between texts with my best friend. I think I’d give it 24 hours at least.

I personally block after 24 hrs.

For eleven? I’d be annoyed but ask what’s up.
