I'm the "fruit boss" at work a.k.a. the produce supervisor. Today I'm restocking some apples that happen to be on sale and an old gentleman was grabbing some. I asked if he had had tried them, because I'm wild about them and believe everyone should. He told me how much his wife loves them and that she was the reason he was buying them.

I continued talking about how wonderful they are and mentioned that I've never been possessive over apples, but when I brought these home I wanted my boyfriend to stick with his Fujis.Β

This guy responds with, "If he doesn't listen, move on."

We talked for a little longer and I asked how long he has been married. He told me 17 years and asked if my questioning was because he's still so "young and in love." It was a pleasant way to wrap up my work day.

Obviously theΒ few minutes we spoke isn't a clear window into his life, but I appreciate his brief and impactful statement.

If he doesn't listen, move on.

(Don't come after me; Fuji apples are fine, but I like what I like.)
