False equivalency. I can be financially independent and still be with someone who wants to take care of me as well. Just because he wants to be a provider doesnât mean I have to sit on my ass and iron his underwear like she seems to think.

omg why canât they understand this ! they think that if we want to be taken care of financially that it means we are poor. like no.
[â]lovebun999FDS Newbie10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right. I was thinking one doesnât exactly relate to the other like that. Am I wrong to want both?!
[â]Budget_QueenFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Came here to say that! And we SHOULD be financially independent. Women who are completely dependent can become stuck in an abusive situation real quick. But we should be taken care of too.

Yup, Iâve seen financial abuse in action with my stepmom and dad when I was younger and it was horrific. She couldnât leave and ended up becoming an addict like he was to cope, it was so sad. This is one of the most important things FDS preaches to me.

Equality is a man doing 50% of all domestic work, emotional labour, pregnancy, child birth and child care and reciprocating every emotional need. Funny how women will be expected to do all of that but only be seen as equal to men if they pay 50% of the bills.
[â]umbralgardenFDS Newbie23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don't forget spending hundreds $$$ more on our appearance than men do. If we going 50% on rent he should pay 50% of my salon and beauty bills or take this ass to the gym and the mall for a decent wardrobe.
[â]grand_tiremasterFDS Newbie60 points61 points62 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Why not both? You can make your own money and still be taken care of by a man. Not gonna go 50/50 on dates lol

You wanna be trapped with an abuser? because that is how you get trapped with an abuser.

She says that but doesnât pull her wallet out on a first date. Ok sis.
I believe this to an extent, no a long term committed husband or partner is not your debit card, but in the beginning he needs to prove to you that he wants a relationship with you. Splitting dinner, splitting drinks, splitting a movie? Youâre just his pal that he fucks.

Iâm so glad I didnât have to work during my horrific pregnancies or afterwards when they were newborns since I picked a provider for a partner. That chick is a clown.

Lol, next man who says he wants to be my âpartnerâ gets asked for a 20k buy-in to my business.
[â][deleted] 31 points32 points33 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Desiree said what she said! I am financially independent but I also want a provider and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

âA partner should not be your bank accountâ this should go both ways though. If he doesnât take care of you then he probably expects you to buy him a PS5

Um, she seems to think sexism was solved. Men and women still aren't socio-economical equals.
[â]LadyGrimesFDS Disciple18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Fuck that noise, that is how you end up trapped.

Right now, I would lose my shit and "go to the bathroom" if I had to sit there at a restaurant pulling a calculator out to split a date bill. Spending all that time and money to look hot, be interesting, cultured, intelligent, and successful and some bum wants to pinch pennies when he's supposed to try and impress me? Or worse, split a bill in half when he orders more expensive shit than I do? That's a hard pass.
I spent so much money on schooling, traveling, personal training, hair salons, clothes, not to mention time and effort to craft myself into the woman sitting across from you on a date. In my pickmeisha days I would happily split the bill to "prove" I was a feminist. Now, after taking into consideration all I've done to make myself so awesome, and in effect such a valuable partner, no amount of dates men pay for will ever reach 50/50. Still I'm a feminist, except I am experienced enough to know equality isn't the goal; it's equity (an example using college financial aid)

I saw someone post this, read the comments under the post and just stayed quiet. The âpick-meâ â50/50â mentality prevails...

In my opinion men are not ATMs but women are not housekeepers either. What I think we are supposed to be are partners, helping each other through this thing called life to the best of our abilities. If the man wants to take care of the woman, that's perfectly fine, or if the woman wants to be the sole provider, that's also fine, as long as it's consentual. Do whatever arrangement fits you as long as it's not hurting anyone, including you.
