"Let's see where this goes" is not an acceptable response, but I personally do not ask men about their commitment level or "what we are". It's my commitment that they have to chase, not the other way around. Men who want to invest in you will show it. If you have to ask, that's a good sign he's not the one for you, not to mention it implies that the terms of your relationship are his to decide. And no buying gifts or girlfriend treatment for men who you aren't sure where you stand with.

Something valuable I learned from this sub is to not even ask what “we” are. “We” are not a we until he asks for commitment; we shouldn’t be asking, and until he asks, we are single and free to date other people as we please. Monogamy is for men. When he asks, then we decide if we want to commit or if we want to continue dating other people. This is my MO now and probably one of the most valuable pieces of advice I’ve taken from here. If he wants an exclusive relationship, he will let you know and it’s up to you to decide. I feel like asking what you are is Pick Me behaviour now.

Try mirroring that same attitude to a dude. They get super confused because you're just nonchalant and not interested. Seriously, just do it.

Commit only as much as they do. And watch them play their own game by themselves. They look like complete idiots.

You shouldn't be doing ANY of those things until he asks you to be in a committed relationship with him/let him be your boyfriend. Seriously! We don't go on trips, introducing him to your friends and family (unless he has), "pine over" or buy gifts for guys who aren't our boyfriend or husband. And if you have to initiate the "where is this going" it's going nowhere. You shouldn't even be sleeping with him until he wants to be exclusive. If there's some horrible sexual incompatibly, you can just break up! Lol

It's not some manipulative game to have boundaries. You shouldn't feel bad for not immediately handing yourself over on a silver platter. only users and manipulators will get angry that you are not giving them your 100% from day one
