I don’t understand why parents keep trying to make ir work with non-parents. They cannot relate to the same struggles, so shit like that is always bound to happen. I always suspect of single childless guys who purposely seek out single mothers to date. I cannot put my finger on it, but I just don’t trust their intentions. And that post is even more proof that my suspicions aren’t in vain. I’m childfree and would rather be single than date a single father. Our life and priorities would just never be the same, and that makes it not worth my time to begin with.

I left a NTA comment that the guy was obviously angling for her to break up with him so he can look like the good guy and say, "Look at all the awful things I had to put up with! Pity me!" I can't believe I was one of the few who saw that shit. Thr actions were calculated and deliberate, imho.

He’s blatantly cheating or up to shady shit. What guy would go to a hotel suite, one is that very romantic in nature, alone? He’s meeting with another woman. Either that or he’s planning to cheat.

The thing that really just rubs me the wrong way about this isnt the potential cheating but how they've been together for 4 years and the kids are still her primary responsibility. Damn, she should be single b/c dealing with that is not worth it.

Way too many YTA and ESH answers there. The question was literally "am I the asshole for being upset". You are NEVER the asshole for feeling upset. It is not easy to control your feelings. Not impossible, but definitely not easy. You can't always control your feelings, but you can control your reaction.

And in this case, your reaction should be to dump his ass as soon as possible. It's a COUPLE'S retreat. If he really wanted you to go, he'd give you a longer notice and help you find a sitter. 99% chance he went to cheat on you. And he really feels no responsibility for those kids at all? He's been dating her for 4 years and doesn't give a shit about the kids. Really?!? Girl, run as fast you can.
