Hi ladies, Happy Labor Day! I read a post a few days ago on FDS about the books LVM / NVM men read and I was surprised to see Marcus Aurelius' Meditations on the list.

Meditations has helped me personally quite a lot, and I wanted to share some quotes from it which I think FDS may appreciate:

  • Nothing is more disgraceful than a wolfish friendship. Avoid this most of all.
    • Aurelius here is calling out those low value scrotes as a disgrace for preying on others, including women. For those who may be preyed upon, he is saying beware.
  • The good and simple and benevolent show all things in the eyes and there is no mistaking.
    • "Simple" is oftentimes mistook as meaning "stupid" in these translations, but instead "simple" means non manipulative. Aurelius is honoring positive virtues here and how they cannot be hidden from us.
  • You cannot make a crooked stick straight.
    • Ladies, we cannot fix a broken man.
  • As to the perfecting of life, this power is in the soul, and it grows by being indifferent towards things which are indifferent.
    • Match his energy! He's indifferent, we're out of there.
  • If things are contrary to nature, seek what is in harmony with your own nature and strive towards this even if it bring no reputation.
    • Pornsick, weak, angry, non-protective, non-providing man children are contrary to nature. We turn away from them here at FDS and seek what is in harmony with our own natures (leveling up!)
  • Every person is allowed to seek their own good.
    • Trust your instincts.
  • Consider whence each things comes, of what it consists, and into what it changes, what it will be like when changed, and that it will sustain no harm.
    • Vet constantly!
  • Consider how men are at table, in bed, and so forth, under what compulsions they are with respect to opinions and as to their acts, consider with what pride they do what they do.
    • Thanks Marcus Aurelius for telling me to constantly observe! This is good advice.

A lot of these classics have many gems for all of us.
