Oh gosh yes.

My most recent one was 7 years my Jr. I could tell from the start I always made him insecure, and it didn't seem to matter how kind or reassuring I was, he didn't seem to think we were equals. Despite us wanting the same things in life and getting on fabulously, he ended it at 3 months with a "I can't give you the commitment you want and I'll only disappoint you". Old me would have immediately tried to convince him that he was wrong, but this wasn't the first time he had expressed some wishy washiness about commiting. So instead I remained dead calm, told him I loved him and thanked him for having what was obviously a very difficult conversation for him.

Got off the couch and asked him if he was still staying for dinner as planned. He seemed a bit rattled by my response and left.

I'm half wondering if he expected me to beg or try to change his mind.... His previous relationships were all younger and he said clingy.

Though sad, I am happy he showed himself the door when he didn't think he could live up to me. I am done begging men to be in my life. While I think we could have been amazing together, I will never again drag a man through a relationship.

I bet many of us can relate as it’s embedded in us from our early conditioning. Don’t forget to apply this to ladies too. We also feel the pressure to dim our light in order to keep our friendship that aren’t truly friendship to begin with.

I dated this one guy who had a steady job, lived with his elderly mom and was recently divorced with a kid(yeah,I know I was horny then). After the first date, he expected me to plan, pay and basically work for his affection. He really thought he caught a lick since I worked in a STEM field and found a few swanky loft AirBnB places for us to have ‘quiet time’ together.

It wasn’t meant to be a longterm situation, but I knew it was over when I mentioned that I built my emergency cellphone from a kit for fun. He got quiet, then later shorted me his portion of the AirBnB, and attempted to ghost me when I asked for the proper amount. It was like he suddenly realized that I was out his league and wouldn’t be impressed by the new 2019 SUV he drove (his mom’s probably), or his workplace where he saw celebrities all the time (it’s NYC, we ignore celebs every day on the train/walking).
