Hi Queens! Hope everyone had a festive (and safe) Halloween weekend!

I'm sharing my observations from a Halloween party I attended for my ethic group. For reasons I won't get into here, we tend to have advanced degrees and highly-paid jobs, and in this region, we skew pretty progressive. I expected to meet at least a few HVM here, out of the ~100 guys who attended.

I think y'all know where this is going...

Off the bat, most of the women were dressed in costumes, did their makeup, had the right props, etc. A third of the guys did not dress up at all (they wore some kind of tee and jeans).

So many guys who approached my girlfriends and I, and did not seem to grasp how to socialize:

  • One kept approaching us to talk about himself. He also asked my friend who is in marketing to create an advertisement for his laundromat 🤣
  • Another asked me about why I chose my costume, considering the political climate (I dressed as a police officer, but how is that a good opening line??). I told him I'm looking into becoming a cop as my next career to help women like Gabby Petito. He then told me to guess where he lives 🤷‍♀️
  • Another demanded to take pictures with us. Then followed us from room to room.
  • I danced with a guy who, turns out, works at the same company as me. It's one of the biggest employers here, with several campuses. He kept asking which product, which dept - Dude I didn't come here to network!
  • I danced with another guy and we were talking in-between songs, then he randomly put on his fullface mask and kept trying to talk to me through it?!??

My friend met one decent guy! They danced a while, then he bought us drinks (yes all of us) and told us to have a fun night together. They later danced again and exchanged numbers. He was generous and not clingy/stalking. One out of a hundred!
