I also wanted to share this but you beat me to it! 😄 This documentary and all the work that Exodus Cry does is so important. I love how they emphasize the new phenomenon of men watching cp and even becoming offenders when they don't actually fall under the definition of a p*dophile. All because men are so susceptible to the addictive escalation in porn.

I personally think that women are susceptible to the self-harm escalation in porn - the pipeline from low self-confidence / mental health (for whatever reason, including being a victim of abuse) to spanking, slapping, hair-pulling, choking, bondage, and hardcore bdsm is real. The difference is that women are more likely to harm themselves, whereas men harm others, including children, which poses a lot more of a threat to wider society.

So all this nicely highlights why we're so anti-porn-sickness on FDS.

Thanks for this OP - can you recommend a youtube video that explains how women get trafficked into porn against their will and how they are mistreated? I’m looking for something to watch with my 11 year old son without explicit images. He’s not been exposed to porn yet but we’re discussing it so he’s prepared.

This made me literally cry. I have 2 sons. They have been talked to at length and in depth about the devastating effects of porn. I think they are ok - they’re both in healthy relationships with HVW, but I’ll never really know. It’s my young nieces and nephews who will be inundated and force fed these “movies” that somehow legally get away with the promotion of violence against women because it’s categorized as porn - as if that makes it better. That makes it a million times worse, because of the anonymity of sex.

Patriarchy is so pervasive. It seeps into our children’s mind’s behind the scenes while on stage it appears that women are getting ahead. My teen niece said, like a lot of her girlfriends say, “we’re not getting married, we’re gonna make the big bucks and live the single life in a big city.” Well, it’s a good thing because men still see you as an object for gratification, and it’s getting worse, not better.

And, short of all women taking this approach, to just leave the patriarchal mindset of love and marriage in the dust by rejecting it, I don’t see much changing.

I feel deflated after watching this.
