That show is a masterpiece, and I love her character (even if she wasn’t a real person). The accompanying podcast is also really cool, because they go into even more details about the true story and the filmmaking.

Person from ex-communist Eastern European Country. I want to say that this show is actually so real in many aspects. People didn't ascend to positions of power where I'm from based on merit or competence. They ended up in positions of power due to money, connections, family members already in other positions of power etc. This practice lasts including to these days.

While I can see the misogyny in this scene, I also want to say corruption runs on many levels. It doesn't matter what you know in this country, it matters who you know. I think this particular scene also aims to illustrate the rampant corruption that runs in society.

If you're a woman in my country, not only will you have to face the blatant sexism everywhere, but also a corrupt system that favors connections and particular interests over the well-being and progress of the community as a whole. It's a hell hole.
