Here’s what my LVM husband said to me this morning: “You know I just finished reading that Brene Brown’s book, had lots of session with our marriage counselor and my own therapist, I’ve come to the conclusion that self care is the most important thing. That’s what I’ve been trying to improve these days, I’m doing skincare and trying to dress better. But what confuses me is that what caring for your needs have to do with my self-care?”

I was dumbfounded. Then I realized that there’s no therapy sessions or self help books that can make an LVM change. They will just use every advice and wisdom as excuses to keep his behavior. Don’t be like me, waiting around for years, getting a spark of hope in my heart every time he’s willing to see a therapist or read a new self help book.

I regret not realizing this years ago while I was still young and healthy. Now I should head back to r/breakingmom where I belong, but you should keep on being the queen that you are. Never settle for less.
