I'm planning to pursue a doctorate in education, and you can bet your ass I will use that Dr. title any chance I get!

My great-grandmother was denied acceptance into a PhD program 6 times simply because she was a woman. I'm pretty sure she would jump out of her grave and slap me if I didn't stand in my power after achieving that dream for us.

How is it so hard to get that MD is for medicine and PhD is for a doctor of philosophy of any other subject. Eurgh

My MIL had a doctorate and she is astonished at the number of people that seem to think the title "Mrs" takes precedent, as if it's more prestigious.

It’s sickening to see men belittling women in power by sexualising and/or infantilising them - e.g. scrotes refer to Lisa Su, the super successful CEO of AMD, as “Su bae” 🤢

This is exactly why I, and all my women academic friends use their title. We worked our asses off and put up with loads of bullshit - like this guy's misogyny - to get the three degrees that he doesn't have. I always tell my students that I respond to "Dr." and "Dr." and say that I hope that if they worked hard to get their doctorates they would use that title too.

UGH I was on a date with a guy a few months ago and he brought this up. Said she wasn’t really a doctor and that it’s weird she “insists” other people call her doctor. I asked him if he called his college professors doctor and would he be saying the same thing about a man. I feel so validated now that we are all talking about it, and less guilty about the fact that I ghosted him.
