Kings of projection.

How? I’m curious.
Edit: idk why I was downvoted so much. I literally love this sub and wanted to understand what she meant. 😕

I was raised w/ expression of ‘ball and chain’. Taht the woman was the ball and chain— even though in marriage women suffer extensive and long lasting damage with often little reward. There are entire cultures where women are forced into marriages or face losing their lives, but women are considered ball and chain. I suspect if not for constant propaganda and engineering of these roles, it would be very difficult for most men (in their current state and past historical states) to reproduce whether in marriage or not. This is opposite of what I was raised with, that I should aspire to get a man to marry me. He should be begging me, becauseI’m not doing it anymore.

Thanks for the clarification. I just didn’t quite understand what projection was and how it related. People downvoted me so fast😒🤨
I appreciate it!!

This is something that makes me wild! I absolutely hate the way men joke about their wives being a ball and chain, because that’s right, men do the proposing! Women are usually the ones doing all the unpaid work, bearing and growing the babies, and they are usually also in paid work. And men just get all high and mighty saying they have a ball and chain attached to them. Well if you don’t like it - leave!
Stop disrespecting her so much, stop cheating and lying and appreciate her for who she is! It seriously disgusts me when men do this. They should be proud to have her on their arm and bettering their lives. How many times have we seen in studies that married men are happier than single men, and single women are happier than married women...

And I hate people who say it's just a joke. It's clearly not and they think it's the end of their Playboy orgy lifestyle fantasy that could still be fulfilled even tho they've lost their hair and attained a pot belly

Men created marriage. No women were involved in creating the contract.

Reminds me of this one:
“Any intelligent woman who reads the marriage contract, and then goes into it, deserves all the consequences.” —Isadora Duncan, 1877-1927

I also hate the whole “happy wife, happy life” saying. It makes it sound as though they’re taking care of some rabid animal, and as soon as it becomes unhappy it will wreck havoc.
Why must it even be said? Like yea don’t be an asshole and treat her with respect. But the saying makes it sound like husbands must always be all “yesss honey, of course, anything you say.”

Idk, I've heard some HVM say it and genuinely know that when they've done something to make their woman happy/proud that they know their life will be better for it. and that usually what she thinks is right/best probably... is. depends on the context and the quality of the guy saying it for me!

That first bullet point tho.... had never thought about that.

I know this man who says his wife gave him an ultimatum when they were bf/gf: he marry her or she will leave. He says he regretted settling down so soon and not sowing his wild oats lol. He was actually decent looking and maybe had somewhat of a chance of hooking up with girls but still, no one forced his hand
Imagine your husband feeling you forced him into it

If I found out my fiance was making these jokes I'd bounce. I wouldn't be embarrassed to leave a man who didn't view me as a prize.

I hate these kinds of jokes. I don't even like when wen comics joke about hating being married either (like okay if he really is a scrote I get it, but if he is...then divorce his ass). It's just such a cheap shot and the same cheap shot men have been doing for decades. Totally unoriginal.
